Nope. Most all were Swedes & other Scandanavians, Russian, German and Poles. I think we had one Serb and one Hawiian. The Hawiian kid wasn't that tall, maybe 5'10" tops, but he was strong as a bull and built like a fireplug.

I'm half Norwegian, but don't have the great heighth, just the stocky build. Went to college with a bunch of Poly's, those guys can get huge! I used to go up against a 6'5" (196 cm) 350 lbs (and that was after he lost 25 lbs over the summer) Somoan. That was always fun.

"Fun" isn't necessarily the word I was thinking of for butting heads with Samoans & those of that body type. They aren't the fastest horses on the track but they are damned strong

Reminds me of a guy I lined up against playing intramural football in college. Big fat guy from Korea name Yi. He didn't move much, and didn't have to.. seemed like he took up half the width of the field! To even think of moving the guy was laughable.

If you think about it though, the Somoan and I weren't too far off in weight, plus I had him in speed. People would back up and give us lots of room when we butted heads. I loved going up against Poly's and Somoan's, they were the most fun. Even if they threw you down, they'd always help you back up.

That was the advantage to our 410 lb center. Once he hiked the ball all he had to do was spread out his elbows and about 6' of space along the line was taken up never to be used during that play
