I agree with Dogbert: there has to be a line somewhere... Hopefully, there is no need for the moderators to do this; we should have the common sense to keep our avatars decent...
I think Ant is the only one who can control the avatar deal but there is an option in the user cp to turn off you seeing other people's avatars.

I would agree that we should keep it nice but you know some people are just a.....

    Never mind.

In case you are wondering, my new Av - generously donated by a certain chicken hater - retains my psychology brain but also incorporates my new Parhelia and 18.1" of lovely LG 1810B

I hope it doesn't offend any NVidiots out there

I obviously can't change mine. You guys almost disowned me when I changed it twice. The second time though it was Liz's comment that made me change it back to normal. Then I updated it to the bigger version thanks to Tempest.

                          Too true!!!

animated GIFs look flashy - but I think they take something away from the 'good old days' when an avatar was only 'cool' if it was witty and original.

As you can see by mine - I'm a total hypocrite
It's easy to die in the past. Staying alive is much more difficult!

Mine is what it is. I change it when I get bored and only to what I like animated or not. My next one probably will not be animated as they take up too much space.
