Girls like songs which they can also sing themselves without feeling too silly... but then again, it depends on her tastes, but speaking as a girl, I can tell you that Barry White is a turn off. He is the king of cheesiness.
It's never enough enphasize that each girl has it's preferences, personally, I would be happy to get a cd that I could hear without getting quickly tired of... some songs from Norah Jones are good, like "Don't Know Why" , Aimee Mann with "Save Me", The Sundays "When im thinking about you"...
A song like "El Mundo Pequeno' From Ian Brown would certainly make me smile, Pink Floyd, "Wish You Where Here" would be a MUST... oh well, some many different styles... just keep in mind: no sad songs!
Yes, that's the one... but you know, metaphorically speaking, being far from your half might feel like being eaten up by worms, or having you heart crushed by some imaginary insect... umm...
Hey Paddy,
I did the same thing for my girlfriend ( now my wife ) a long time ago. Now I don't know if that won her heart, but I did hit the right buttons. But Alice's comments hit the nail right on the head, it's almost the same thing my wife told me. I made a love song tape and gave it to my wife for her two hour car ride home one weekend in Feb. When she called me after her trip, I asked how'd she like the tape. She told me she chucked it to the back seat after the forth song. It was too depressing and boring to be played on a car trip ALONE. So then I made a love song tape for the car that had a lot of fun love songs, from Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond, Aron Neville even WHAM...( remember I said I long time ago ) and that went much better. So my suggestion is, to spice up the car tape a bit, and keep the love cd as a love cd for the home. You can do more at home than in the car. WooHOO.
Have fun.
