Overall i liked it but some parts where unneccesary:

    - Legolas surfing down the stairs
    - Legolas somehow magically getting up the horse with that unrealistic stunt

    - some unrealistic battle scenes. i know this is hollywood but anyways. at the end when the king, aragon and gimly ride on their horses out of helms deep their horses literally push 100s of orcs away, without the horses being hurt. judging by the other battles the horses should have been dead after the 10th or so orc. and a few more scenes, minor though.

    - the leader of the ents (the name escapes me) is supposed to be very wise, yet he needs two young hobbits to lure him to isengard and show him a few dead trees to open his eyes.

    - the liv tyler parts, while candy for the eyes, were cheesy.

    - switching between elven language and english. i hated that totally. if you got a conversation between elves stick to elvish, and don't switch the language 5 times during a conversation. he'd best just left out the elvish language completely.
    no matrox, no matroxusers.

Why is this unnecessary? Jackson is trying to convey what Tolkien writes about elves - they are supernaturally agile, etc.

Yeah, and judging by how badass those orcs are (and how much trouble ONE of them gave Aragorn at the end of the last movie) you'd think that he and Gimli would have been slaughtered when they went out alone on the gangway. But guess what? That's how Tolkien wrote it, both the mounted charge and the lone stand by Aragorn.

AHH yes, this is a bad thing. Jackson butchered the Ent part of the story entirely.

      Duh.

Well, I think you'll find that the scenes where they switch back and forth are the scenes where Aragorn is talking to an elf... or for example they cut from Elvish to English when they cut away from Elrond and Arwen to the flash-forward...
