Well my name comes from the time when everyone was having a go at the beta boys over the G400. I just thought this is the pits and then I thought hold on The PIT.

Hrm, well my screen name has been one that has been formed over time. Pretty since 4th grade I've had various people call me Jester. I guess the reasoning was simple, my first name is Jesse and I have always been somewhat off-beat. Not quite a class clown, but more the guy that everyone knows will just do whatever, in turn providing some humour I guess.
Anyhow it was a nickname I've never been able to shake, so I just let it be. For awhile I just used it as a screen name and login for almost everything, however I started to run into "Name already in use" messages. One day while I was on trying to create an account for some online service I no longer remember, I received that error. A good buddy of mine was nearby and suggest I added something to the end of it; shortly after he blurted out "wild". It seemed fitting enough I guess given my personality, so it's been Jesterzwild ever since.
Oddly enough, JW is my initials (sans middle name) anyhow.

It's the name of a dark elf (from some fantasy books) whom history and way of thinking is pretty similar to mine. I use it's name as a nick since 5 years ago.
K6 & Wombat - I ran an AMD 386DX-40 for a looong time - this was the fastest 386 at the time, although pretty much overlapped with the first 486's, so can't really claim it was the fastest x86...
Anyway, back on topic... I'm really boring and it's just my Initials.
Always having been bigger than everyone through school, no one ever dared trying nicknames on me (not that I know of anyway...) so I have always been just George. But GNEP gives me that oh-so-great level of anonyminity (spelling???)

Dr.Slump is a character in a Japanese anime. This guy is short and fat but he will transform into a handsome tall guy when in presence of a beautiful girl but will come back to his original shape short after.
Back in school I had my best mate, we were always together. I was kind of tall and handsome and he kind of short and fat. They put us both the nick 'cause at the clubs I used to start talking with a girl and then pass it to my mate.
With the time I got fatter and he got taller so they no longer called us Dr.Slump.
I kept the nick anyway for the sake of school days.
edit: spelling

Sadly, Drizzt is the creation of Bobbo "The Mook" Salvatore (pronounced with a distinct Joe Pesci accent).
Bobbo's writing is based entirely on his experiences as a 15-year-old dork, spending his days being beaten up by the other kids at school, and his nights playing Dungeons and Dragons with the other dorks.
Drizzt is a cool character, but when I try to read the books about him... it makes my head hurt, because I'm neither 15 nor an avid D&D'er any more.

P.S. The other problem with Bobbo's characters is that they are all invincible, they are all the penultimate example of their character archetype, and they are all completely ... one-dimensional... with the possible exception of Drizzt. I think that Bobbo should let someone else tell the Drizzt stories.

New Helvitia was the name of the town I was born in. Long before I was born, the name was changed to Sacramento which happens to be the capitol of California. For the longest time I thought it was Helevitia instead of Helvitia. By the time I realized it, it was too late. I had already used this name so much so I just stuck with it. BTW, it pronounced HELL-UH-VEE-SHUH
