- The members of our military should be saluted.
- The military itself is an organization which I cannot abide.
People sometimes suggest "you should join the military". Apparently these people do not know me. Generally, when given an ORDER by ANYONE... I tend to say "**** you". That doesn't fly in the military.
Do I think a military is necessary? ABSOLUTELY. Do I think ours rocks, compared to the rest of the world? Yep. Is it for me? No. And I too am sick of seeing it on TV. But I'm NOT opposed to saying "hey guys, thanks for doing what you do".
HOWEVER, there are limits. People treat Gulf War vets as though they are as deserving of medals and heroism awards as WW2 vets. And frankly, it just ain't so. Iraqis were surrendering to FRENCH CAMERAMEN. The most dangerous thing in the desert was our own equipment. Sorry, guys.
