Okay will Sunday times publish the list of UK child porn subscribers.
Okay will Sunday times publish the list of UK child porn subscribers.
Apparently the Sunday Times has obtained the list of 7000 people who have given there credit card details to a site that gives access to 21 child porn sites.
Now will they publish the list????

More seriously though, surely this would interfere with the investigation by the police? And OK, arguably having one's name published in a list to name-and-shame you is about as much punishment as you would get through the courts, (a) as efty said what if some of the names turn out to be innocent, (b) we have had enough trial-by-media already and (c) I think they will actually just drop lots and lots of pretty obvious hints so we can work the famous ones out without them naming them.
A bit like when John Leslie was basically common knowledge but no-one would publish it. Thinking about it, I haven't checked popbitch recently... bet there's a fair bit of semi-accurate speculation there...

Question: How many other type of sites does this main site give access to that some of those 7000 may have gone too instead of the child porn sites?
When you sign up for one site you may not know what other types of sites that the billing service also does business with.
What if one of those cc# was stolen?
That is a good thing to think about. I know I recently, well a couple of months ago, had to cancel a card I had and make several calls to stop action on the card because someone had gotten a hold of the infomation and was trying to use it to set up a website. Don't know if it was an illegal site or not but you can only assume that it was since they were trying to use stolen card information. They had registered a domain name, secured hosting services and internet billing services through IBILL. But fortunately because I check my account on a daily basis I was able to get it stopped before it got off the ground good. But how many others may not have been so lucky??
So if they did publish the information I could see some major law suits coming about. And I'm sure they don't want that.

Libertarian is still the way to go if we truly want a real change.
I can understand that there's this whole issue with child pornography but isn't that kind of information supposed to be private and stay private? What I buy with my CC is my own business.

Why bother publishing? Might as well get those 7000 people, drag them through the streets to the town square, and burn them at the stake, while the peasants cheer maniacally.
Dumb daddy leaves his credit card out. Clever dick son borrows it and downloads pics of girls his age and a few older. Father pays his Bill without looking Sunday times publishes his name.
Also as Joel says what if the site has other links.
