  • Inconsiderate idiots

Ok I found this to be extremely offensive and feel the need to vent....

A coupple of my friends were eating out at Toco Bell the other night and at the table behind them were these two little punk kids. One says to the other "What does NASA stand for?" The quiered twit responds "I don't konw...what?" Then our idiot extrordinare says "Need Another Seven Astronauts." Now my friend thankfully publicly threateded to kick his A** to which the kids both appologized.

The point is how offensive do some people have to be?!?! Do they not think at all before they think, or do they just not think at all? I mean there are some things that are just completely wrong and totaly inappropriate, and that to say the least is one of them. Had I been there I probably still would have decked the kid. (wrong, but still satisfying none the less...)

Any way I'm done ranting now, thanx...

A lot of kids don't have any respect. Probably because of bad parenting. And some people will stoop low for a laugh.

I remember when Challenger blew up. I was only 7 at the time, and I had a lot of trouble comprehending the grief of others, and what the experience should mean to me. I remember jokes:

Q: What color were the astronauts eyes?
      A: Dunno.
      Blue.
      Blue?
Q: Yeah, one "blew" this way, the other that way.

Heinlein once had a character decide that laughter is caused by pain and frustration, not joy. Maybe these kind of childish jokes are the result of being unable to handle the world.

Making light of things is a natural defensive mechanism for humans. Sometimes laughter can get us through some of the tough times.

I wouldn't threaten to kick anybody's ass over it.

        I remember the Challener deal.

A- Did you hear that Christa McAuliffe had dandruff?
        B- No???
A- yeah, they found her head and shoulders on the beach.

Poor taste? Probably. But that's just how many humans deal with tragedy.

I remember that sick joke. I even said it when I was younger. I did not understand. Kids do not understand the seriousness of these things. Threatening them could have got you in trouble. Best to correct them without threatening pain.

              I remember the jokes too..

              Something along the lines of:

Q: Where do astronauts go on vacation?
              A: All over Florida

Sad, but then you think of all the Osama jokes that have been posted here too.

What is one mans humour, is anothers defence mechanism. I guess at the end off the day putting people down to make yourself look better is a cry for attention.

Well, first I wasn't there so i didn't do any threatening, and I can understand that some kids are to small to understand what they're saying (though in this case they were not) so that's understandable. I can even go out there and say that laughter can get you through some hard times, I just lost both of my grandparents, and sure I laughed, I laughed a lot, but not by making fun of their deaths, or by making fun of them, like wise I can seeing making jokes about a situation such as this, but again they shouldn't be hurtful jokes...or at least in my opinion...you have to considder others feelings...

lol that joke was quite funny in a sick kind of way, how old were these kids? sometimes they do not realise the seriousness about what they are joking about.

in a way that joke is like a racist joke, it can be funny until someone gets offended.

I think I actually heard the same joke at the time of the Challenger accident.

I remember that exact joke back when it happened to the challenger. Many jokes, albeit tasteless, stem from some form of tragedy. Like the jokes after September 11th that depicted maps of the world with the words PARKING LOT where Afghanistan is located.

Similar to jokes about rape etc.

It's human nature to find humor in anything and everything.

I agree things can be in poor taste in certain situations, but if you are talking amongst your friends and nobody has a problem with it, joke away! and to add to the list...

Why did they serve Pepsi on the shuttle flight?

Because they couldn't get seven up.

Now, that joke only makes sense for the original space shuttle challenger.
