Perhaps if the Soap Box, General Hardware/Software, Alternative Lifestyles and maybe the Crystal Ball (ie the biggest Non-Matrox forums - keeping the Matrox specific forums open to the public) were made available only to subscribers for a token fee (£10 a year, £1 a month??) it might ease the load and provide Ant with a few shekels to go towards paying for the hosting with.

A small subscription fee isn't a bad ideea, but you seem to forget one problem, not all people have credit cards.
I don't think Ant is willing to go to the bank for some tens or hundred times to take 10 pounds by money transfer or other means.
And it sure wouldn't be fair to be cut off from those forums just because you can't get the money there.

I'm sure if ant needs any help he could set up a pay (or similar) account so those who feel they can help financially can do so.
I've been in the situation before (not web related) where a 'sponsor' has made 'demands' on a non profit organisation to make references to particular things and under no circumstances can you mention these other things....

Otherwise we may turn ant into a tom, and we wouldn't want that.
