    • well, given that there is no news from ant, but the site is still up, then I suppose that "no news is good news".

I haven't seen any general info on how to send money, but am still willing.

I know that the burden of running a site like this one (not the money, rather the time) can be much. But when a site like this one (or storagereview etc.) is running at its best, it provides an invaluable resource for parttime computer nerds as myself.

I hope that there will continue to be those who seek to keep it running, and at the high level which it has always been.

      Cheers,
      Charles

Why do so many say they are willing to contribute, yet when given the information on how to do so, do not even respond?

        • Hello KV
I am happy to send Ant a cheque but was expecting some notification from him giving us details of where to send donations. This should be easy for me, I only live 100 miles down the road from him.

            • Can't we just send stuff to Ant?

I'm planning on electronic transfer if possible btw Tony.

              • Sure we could if he ever bothered to reply I haven't seen him mention anything, despite eveyones good intentions.

I'm volunteering to collect cheques and then send him one big cheque. Either that or we should all just forget it and stop talking about it.

                • Sorry to say he's been really busy with work (too busy for health imho)
Nor will he be able to respond to this for a few days.

                              • An alternative to Paypal, and they take 1.5% instead of 3% commission - http://www.nochex.com/

Anyone heard of them? I just found it on eBay.

The system works like an online back account, and you can transfer money (free) to an email address.

                                However, here's the charges!

I upload cash into my account, and get charged 99p, so if I'm giving £20 to Ant, I'll have to put in £20.99.

It gets sent free to Ant's email address (and Nochex account), and he then pays to make a withdrawal, where he is charged 1.5% (minimum 99p).

So, on £20.99, they would take 99p from 'me', and then 99p from 'Ant'. Giving £1.98 from £20.99 and almost 10%!

It would work better with larger amounts though, i.e. >£100, where the 99p minimum will fall below the 1.5%, so we would be getting charged under 1.5% on each upload and withdrawal.

Right, so I guess they are out (I just worked out the figures in the reply box, didn't think how bad it'd be! ), any other ways?

It's no problem for Brits though, as soon as Ant gives a mailing address we can all post cheques, or some other banking method.

These Paypal-alikes are just good for international payments really.
