The only real problem I've had with single-page formatted reviews of any length has mroe to do with page load times than anything else. I personally don't care to sit around 5 minutes (well, it sometimes feels like it's at least that long) just because the whole page hasn't load, or even because some specific part of a page is loading so the browser isn't displaying anything until it gets that part.

Breaking longer reviews up into smaller sections has seriously cut down on the load times for several sites I visit, since it's much easier to accept ten 30 second delays (30 secs to a page load) than it is the one 5 minute delay for a longer single-page format.

I digress, in this particular case, with long reviews and how this site (vB and vB Portal) operates, I will say that multi-page reviews are probably best if needed. I say this due to the time it does require to load the pages (largely due to the database access, page generation, and bloated HTML - nobody's fault but Jelsoft's).

Anyhow, it's great that Sasq has gotten this whole system working. I know he's spent some time on it and from what I've seen it works rather well.

Yeah and when the wife leaves me alone long enough on this holiday of mine, I'll finish the new review engine

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

I seriously cannot believe you are talking about his wife like that - and in such a public manner too!

As for download times, a single page will clearly offer less than multiple pages, due to not just the database access as Jw pointed out, but also because of all the "extras" in an HTML document: Header, metas, title, navigation, doc header/footer - these are only needed once really, but multipage duplicates them.

If the document is well structured, with a table of contents and appropriate headers subheaders if would be far superior as a single document

As for 50 page efforts - well, that's not a document, that's a novel. We would then split it by chapter

I find myself constantly bouncing around reviews to view one set of graph results against another for an example. Moving up and down is faster the getting the previous page back (whether it be cached or not).

Well, I don't know if it's appropriate to be talking about buttons and your wife in one sentence here...

As long as she doesn't read this and she doesn't think I'm referring to her "buttons" then I think it's ok.
