There is more to come - Like a new articles system, that you will all be able to submit to.

You will have noticed a slight change in the post icons (normal murcers) from last night.
Mods/Murc Staff et al still see the full list.
To make something a news Item either in the first post, or edit thread (if you are bumping it) choose one of the Newsish icons and away it goes to the front page.
Still have to work on polls.

        Search Index is rebuilt.

New function, uploaded images now display as thumbnails you can open to the full image. In the process we lost about 30 images out of close to 3000.

Yes, I am aware some very old posts just turned up.
Long story, see if I can sort them soon.

Uhm, is the home page still not as going to be? It keeps showing me the login bit on two places. On one I can (top right), on the other I can not log in (left). It won;t show me the "Thank you for logging in Master OTU" screen on that one. It never welcomes me as MOTU btw.

And the nav bar below is gone just after we got it.

A few comments (while I suffer through mousing with my right hand while holding my left hand over the 'N' key for the script prompts ):

                1) It's not intuitive how to get to the sub-forums from the main forum page. I didn't think Temp made it over because I didn't see it on the main forum page or the lounge forum page as before (but now I do ). The first level forum titles ("Hardware" and "MURC Life") can use some tweaking to better reflect it's contents and indicate that there are more forums in that category than what is listed below their headers.

                2) Re: Advanced Search. Can you add the option "First Posting Date" to the "Sort Results by" drop-down list?

                3) The icon representing 'threads you've posted in' isn't distinct enough.

                4) Is it possible to set our default "Additional Options" in the "Reply to Thread" page? I would like to normally not show my signature.

                5) Can you extend the timeout on posts so we don't see the "Last edited by" messages for quick edits on posts. I'd rather be alerted to edits of longer reconsideration and the edit alert for quick edits just wastes space.

                6) I appreciate the new functionality we've gained by upgrading the vbb SW (about time ). I certainly appreciate the time you (both Sasq and JesterzWild) have donated to the benefit of all us MURCers. As an aside ... too bad Matrox hasn't done anything for us in quite awhile even though they could profit from it. Maybe it's time to add ATI and NVIDIA hardware sub-forums.

I'm working on new icons and buttons and cute little kitty avatars for the whole site. Gonna take me awhile so be patient; I dislike the new ones myself, so it is a priority.

There's a lot of changes that need to be made here and there and it's going to take some time, something Dan and I are both relatively short on (damn to having a full-time job ). I'd like to streamline a good deal of the layout and how everyone interacts with it (better, more obvious icons for instance).

As I said before, just bear with us.

Actually it's the "new posts" icon that I really need to have more distinctive but they all need some work. I guess you've got enough feedback for now on the visuals until you all have time to institute the latest tweaks.

Thanks for working on the graphics jw. A few suggestions: I don't think the pseudo-photorealistic look of the new icons works very well for small graphics, the pictogram look of the old icons was much better IMHO. A post's title could be put into the blue bar above it, this would save space and do away with the need for that ugly HR.

Yeah, I've ditched the new style in favor of a simpler look like the old style. You should be able to see them in the forum and thread listings now.

As far as the post's title in the blue bar, I've had thoughts along the same line. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I suppose I won't know whether I finally like the new look and feel until it's actually finished. But right now, it's quite alien. I'm sure I'll be fine with the end product, but right now is just the change that's the infamiliarity.

                                Just a couple of things:
                                1) Quick Reply is not that good now...always actived is better, for me.
                                2) Is just me, or the new layout is a bit too much "bright"? Dunno way, but in these days I'm browsing the forum quickly without reading too much, because it hurts my eyes. And this on all three monitors I use.

For the rest, it's really a wonderful job!
Sat on a pile of deads, I enjoy my oysters.
