as for quick reply, go to top of page, click display modes, play with threaded and hybrid.
as for brightness, forum is the same colours as before, except, we don't have the alternating darker post colour anymore.

      User info modification

There are a few changes that have been suggested and that I, and Dan, have also thought about. One group of changes is to the top navigation block; specifically the user info portion. Below is a textual representation of one modification I've come up with:

      Welcome, Jesterzwild.
You last visited: Today at 12:46, time now is 16:33 (GMT-6)
      PMs: 0/17 | User CP | Logout

      This consists of:
      1. Adding the current time to the end of the last visited line info
      2. Abbreviating Privates Messages to PMs along with the PM count info
      3. Adding links to the User CP and Logout (with the thought that they would be removed from the main menu

      Your thoughts?

The hybrid thread display mode could use a prev/next button like the threaded display mode.

The "Post Reply" buttons should be differentiated whether one is replying to the thread as a whole, a branch, or just the latest post in the thread (reflects in the threaded views).

Hybrid and threaded display modes bring my work machine to its knees with any thread longer than about 50 posts... (it's only a PIII 733MHz Laptop)

You're right about the long threads. I get a 'slow script' alert on my Piii/850 machine. I'll try my PIV/2.8 GHz ...

It's sluggish on my PIV/2.8 GHz as well ... and I still get the 'slow script' alert (IE 6.0).

The new site doesn't like a quote-only post as it complains that the message is too short. It wants at least two characters of non-quoted text.

No problems with slowdowns or slow script in ie6.0. But this is one of my Dual Rigs, so I'm not sure if that's helping out for me here.

Just tried viewing the 50+ threads and no problems. But the BIG threads like the game in the lounge is unviewable. Unsure if this is the server and site thing, or my system.

It's likely an issue with the script being run to generate the threaded view. This is not unusual given that scripts tend to be unstable when manipulating a large number of elements.

That's right .. I only got the slow scripts on the threaded views of large threads.

Most threads don't ever get to the size of the picture game
It's a vb3 function, not sure if there are any tweaks for it at this point, and I am still getting used to whats under the hood myself.

I always hated link only posts (won't even bother surfing to it without some explanation) so a minimum amount of text there is nice but a quote alone should be fine I would think ... whatever.
