Ah got ya now. I see you make use of the hybrid thread view. Would have caught on if I did too

So you'd like the buttons in hybrid, and you'd like them, I assume, to skip between the different branches?

thread/hybrid view is all native vb at the moment with no tweaks from us.

And yes, waiting to see if we keep it, before I go off and tweak the display modes on it.
(should be a way to limit the depth of the display, not sure)

xortam, link me to a thread that gets screwy, I have some settings I can do with it via the cp that might make it better...

Sorry ... I should of added some context for those not in one of the threaded display modes.

Ideally, it would be nice to go to the next unread post in the thread but you could just copy what's done in the Threaded display mode for now.

            You know this one.

It's also a pain to keep drilling down to the new posts as the branches get deep (and they keep indenting to the right):
            1) multiple "More replies below current depth..." links until you get to an unread post and b) the thread branch window doesn't reset the view to the new position when you hit that link.

well as for clicks, forum is set to display a depth of 5
i can tweak that to any reasonable number..
the position of it, is more sort of jesse's ballpark

scrolling, not sure on tweaks for that... that might be an after we decide to keep it thing

so how many deep do you want it to display?

It's got to be deep enough to get the job done.

There's a couple ways to go about it that I can think of right off hand: Allow the branch window to be resized and adjust the depth accordingly (in your spare time ), or the perhaps simpler thing (and preferred feature) might be to just add next unread post links (next unread post in branch and next unread post in thread).

                  mmm spare time...
I have a download function I am writing atm that has priority.
Just upped the depth to 10
However, on my side, if people would like it, I can add some user configs for hybrid/threaded mode for number of posts cached (threaded) and post depth (hybrid) easy enough - just not RIGHT now, at work ya know

Thanks, that halves my clicks and scrolling which can really add up on long branches.

Thread branches also can get confusing if everyone isn't using one of those display modes (as we just witnessed) so some tweaks would have to be added to help there also. I guess we shouldn't go too far down this discussion path until it's decided you'll keep threaded views. I like them to help organize multiple discussions within a large thread.

It's not like a murc thread to go off topic at any point though is it

I'll give it another few weeks, might even set hybrid to default just to wake them all up, then get do a poll.
