We have a new java client, as well as the irc server is now hosted here.
    irc.murc.ws

Come, visit, talk, whine at the admin about the new style

irc.sasqs.net will still work - but is currently undergoing dns changes.

The java client is "unable to connect".

Which browser, what secutiry settings for java?
its an unsigned applet, which usually is ok, as its only connecting directly back to the murc server

It doesn't seem to work on Opera 7.5... (Sun Java 1.4.2_03)

          I get
Startup error: java.lang.Error: Unable to load interface pixx: java.lang.ClassNotFountException: irc.gui.pixx.Interface
(I did get a warning regarding the applet being unsigned, but accepted it)

It did work on other browsers (tried IE).

IE6SP1, XP SP2, default script security. All I get is:

            "Connecting...
Unable to connect : null "

I think I'm still using the MS JVM, would that be the problem?

could be, also get the java consol up, there is probably some warnings/stack traces in it.

I would recomend installing the Sun JVM, MS has stopped any security upgrades/patches on the MS jvm for over a year

...sent. Now that I think about it, I don't think the Java chat ever worked for me on the old site either. My network is pretty simple, Linksys router and dumb switch, so I don't think that could be doing it...

I just changed the html slightly give that a try, you do appear to be using the sun VM.
for some reason it seems to be having issues locating the url... not sure on that.

You should now hit an unsigned jar file, that won't popup as its going directly back to here.

Just so you know, now that I've reinstalled my machine (with Media Center Edition!), chat works fine. I guess my old XP install was way overdue for a cleansing.
