  • Icon/Graphics Feedback

Just so I can get the suggestions for changes to icons and other graphics in one place instead of scattered about, if everyone could post feedback related to the above in here I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

There are a number of graphics yet to be changed and I will be working on those over time (read weeks as opposed to days or months).

First of all, I think the redone icons are very very good. Please bear this in mind for the following criticism/nitpicking:

The "sort by" arrows aren't redone I think. At least they don't really fit the style. (the same graphics seem to be used also for "go to first unread post" and "go to last post")

The "you have posted in this thread" indicator is not visible enough and also too fuzzy for my taste, I always try to focus on it better, but that doesn't work

The little graphic in the upper right corner of the posting rules doesn't fit (both style and background color)

The smileys. We need better smileys (I personally very much like some of the light-hearted ones on the http://my.opera.com/forums, and the old was lots better.) Also, thread icons (again have a look at http://my.opera.com/forums/ )

The little downarrow for thread tools etc. is a bit fuzzy at its base and could be pointier. It looks blunt.

I like what you've done with the IM symbols, though IMHO yahoo and aol could use a tad more sharpening. Or maybe my 8+ year old monitor is finally giving up the ghost, I don't know

Oh, and I like the light green in some of the new icons (new thread) very very much! More of that, please!

Cleaning out the garage - wheee! - so this is going to be a quick response. I will answer in more detail a little bit later.

I've yet to redo any of the arrows that you see here and there, in addition, I cannot claim credit for the IM service icons - those are stock.

In regards to the you've posted here dot, it was all I could think of at the time, and even then it's just a recolored version of the old stock version (which was black instead of the teal I used). I may just change it to black.

Glad you like the green and thanks for the input.

Edit: Feel the need to make a comment about you, opera, and smilie... but damn if I don't like those ones too

Sure wish we had some of the missing Post Icons of past, like the "clown" and "wink" emoticons.

The "Red face/embarrased" emoticon is purple , not red, and the "No icon" button produces a "Post icon".

The post icons and emoticons are a lower priority than everything else obviously, but it's likely the old emots will make a return (I really do hate the new wink)

Colors are the same for the most part, but obviously the background graphics for any bars that had them are gone. The colors are a bit mixed around though, but that's more to do with the new vBulletin layout than anything else.

Just out of interest though, anyone have a screenshot of the the forums pre-upgrade?
