Are really getting annoying. Searched a bit and found this link to a plug-in for vB that scans posts from new members for certain keywords ( "[url" for example) and blocks them.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

Seriously though, we don't get that much new blood here these days (not that posts anyways).FT.

Lack of new members isn't all that surprising given the lack of focus. It's been a long while since Matrox was the reason for MURC's existence and no one thing (ignoring the plethora of religious/political topics) has offered itself as a replacement.
Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. We need to reorganize, but as it stands, we have a rather open community that offers a little bit of everything to anyone who makes the effort to become part of said community.
Personally, I think we need to reorganize the various forums to match what MURC has evolved into. I would also love to do a refresh on the layout/design to give the place some new life (and because I've never been happy with the minor tweaks and graphics I was able to do in such a short time before). The biggest problem is just that though - time, or rather the lack of it.
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this, bearing in mind that our hairy overlord has final say“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

Yes! More green!
I'd volunteer to do some more minor moderating (moving threads that were started in the wrong forum by accident, removing spam, etc.) in the lounge and GHW/SW.

My 2p: posting rates on murc are so low that to divide the forii up any further seems pointless. You might consider moving some sub-forii up a level to save clicking through. As to style, its not as important as content. You and Dan do a good job keeping things running, providing new features etc. Murc is lean, which is great for us existing members. Maybe not so great for attracting new members, but perhaps keeps the foul-mouthed kiddies away?
If you do want to start a serious debate on this, I'd suggest starting a new thread with a relevant title, linked from the Lounge.FT.

As far as style, any changes there would still keep us lean. Again, I would actually be keen on streamlining or removing some extraneous elements. There's enough flashy crap out there as it is.
Maybe a "serious debate" can be had, but as it stands, there's just not enough time in the day for anything to do be done. Hopefully come the new year things will be improved.“And, remember: there's no 'I' in 'irony'†~ Merlin Mann

The MURC works and looks fine as it is, so it should really not take priority over any other stuff you and dan have to do, including taking a day off or two.

I would vote for an option for MURC to look as much like legitimate work as possible so we can surf during the odd idle hour or eight in office time Make it look like a spreadsheet!DM says: Crunch with Matrox Users@ClimatePrediction.net
