  • Dodgy access to MURC???

Over the past couple of weeks or so, I haven't been able to access MURC easily. It is so slow that it times out before downloading is complete. I haven't tracked where the slowness happens but it happens several times/day. Any known reason for this?

It's been happening a lot for me too lately, including today.

Haven't noticed it here... but I don't get any thread notifications (as FT mentioned in the other thread)...

          We have problems, Houston!

A little diagnosis shows the forum is hosted by ThePlanet.com Internet Services, Inc. in Houston, TX, with the allocated server IP 70.85.138.12. The previous IP in the routing is 70.87.254.18, which is the same ISP but in Dallas, TX. Various ping tests show anything between 20 and 50% dropped between Dallas and Houston. It would therefore seem that there may be a bottleneck between these two nodes, run by ThePlanet.com.

nope, brian is correct, I pay monthly unto ThePlanet

not sure about the packet loss, there was a spam issue on the server basically killing mysql with loops - it wasn't actually spamming anything, just getting constipated.

you may just be seeing a dodgy router Brian, I haven't noticed any packet loss on my path in.

I knew it was moved from Sasq's bedroom, but still thought it was in the east...

Today, it'a worse. There are 3 ThePlanet nodes in TX, dropping 100% of the pings (with 100% loss, they cannot even be identified!) (The pink colouration shows a poor connection.)
