new user spammed a lot of you.
Please ignore, I have not warned any of you about being virus ridden.
do not click link, though I figure you are all smart enough to at least know I would sign with my own name as well as posting a thread similar to this, if there was a problem

Got a PM one today from LaraBara. Most likely their first and only post.

We had this problem on a board down here the other week. It got resolved by setting it that you had to post say 5 messages to the board before you could PM other members. Problem went away overnite..

UI might be a bit unsettled for a bit, but it should kill the spam

Ditto. Looked suspicious so I just deleted it. Prompted me to do a full virus scan on my computer though, so I should at least thank "Kurtymann" for that.

                          kurtyman, here as well..

interestingly the bot is using random forum user names rather than alphabetically.
but i'm sure most of the users here are not going click on a link posted by a new user.

When we had the big DB loss years ago ('99), Rags re-registered right after me.
When I got my spam, Rags was on the email list right behind me.

And, yes...I would hope most of us are smart enough not to fall for this.
Unfortunatly, thousands of registered members (active or not, smart or not) got this spam...
