latest issue of Computer Games Magazine has this interesting tidbit. I suppose I can confirm Matrox made a similar statement to me at E3 but that's as far as I go :


Matrox wants to make it clear that they haven't forgotten gamers, though. It's working on a high-end product that it's convinced will be a benchmark-winner and have loads of new features that aren't even in DirectX 8. More info on that product is coming in a couple of months.

New gaming card from Matrox?

I was reading a thread in Matrox forum where people were asking about G800 and Haig answered:

Barring any unforseen complications, I would assume it is possible that perhaps you may have something coming.

look at this, agp8x is coming, maybe thats what matrox was talking about when they said they solved the bandwith problem in one of their not-too-revealing interviews a couple of months back.

and in their latest q&a interview they told us that they have several hundred people working on something again.

I don't think AGP8 will be that much of an improvement. Look at the diff between agp 1 and 4. I doubt you will notice it.

About the benchmark winner: Maybe they have made a deal with madonion?

I do think that it is possible that Matrox nextgen gaming card is knocking on the door, but afaik Matrox never has announced an card at the end of the year.
They always announce something around Q2 and have it in fully avaible in stores around Q4.

in the mean time i'm replacing my MAX with a gf3 and then i'll wait for the nextgen Matrox...

i hate to be the one to ruin the party but usually when matrox says a couple of months its closer to a couple of years months
