  • Any New Rumors going around about a next gen Matrox Card?

Any new rumors about the next gen Video card coming from Matrox? I'm kinda tempted to try out a Radeon 8500 if I can get a deal on it if we dont see anything from Matrox till the Spring time...

    Next Gen Matrox

Well if you are talking about a card that has ALOT more horsepower older cards like G400(MAX), i would have to say..

...MAYBE 2003... You all have seen that Matrox is going for full throttle to corporate 2d-cards, so all gamers really should stay FAR away from those. I DONT have any inside info, but thats just how i feel. And please no more adds like with G450, the gamers solution.. BUAAAAH.

Compared to the background noise surrounding the G800, we now have almost deathly silence. Maybe the g550 took the wind out of us..

There only seems to be a few people who believe that they know what Matrox has in sight. Unfortunately they are keeping quiet on the subject. From my point of view I will wait until spring to see what is on offer and then probably buy an ATI card. Personally I cant see anything from Matrox coming and i'm not prepared to wait for them. Even if it did release anything, it may not even be worth the effort;(.

Anyhow, there are a lot of potential good cards coming out in the next 3-6 months. As buyers we may even have a glut to choose from.

I still have faith in the comment from a Matrox rep that said something to the affect that...

"The beginning of 2002 Matrox will return as the 3D king."

In answering my own thread here, Another thing also to consider is that the Beta Boys on the site have stated that Matrox will have out something sooner then expected. Is there any Major Trade shows between now and the end of the year? But then again Matrox does do its own thing....without any rhyme or reason....well normal reasons .

My personal Dream is to have Matrox come out with something totally different then anyone else has out there...like the EDRAM rumors that have been going around etc etc....would be nice for them to get some nice posivtive buzz on the internet

"The beginning of 2002 Matrox will return as the 3D king."

This is all very commendable but how long will it stay there. Remember the G400's stay at the top was all too brief. Not only that but it is debatable how well the next generation of cards will perform running games like doom3 and unreal2 etc.

ANNOUNCMENT COMING IN 4 WEEKS TIME .....

Just sit tight and I might be able to get you some preliminary benchmarks by next month. As far as I know Matrox finished the initial design of the next generation chip that means they should now be in the testing phases. So my guess is that EXPECT AN ANNOUNCEMENT WITHIN 3-4 WEEKS. Unfortunately I can not share with you all the things I know, cause my friend will be very pissed to figure out I posted his comments here But, we all knew that R200 would not be able to take down GFORCE3 but I can tell you that the next generation Matrox chip , will be able to crush Gforce3 no problem... So for those of you who are going to buy the ATI 8500 , just hold on to your money for a few more months that's all I can say ...
-<= Its all about point of view ....

give matrox a break how can you expect a next gen card out of them just after they spent the last 3 years engineering the groundbreaking and completely usefull headcasting thingymagig!
                  ha ha!
i have faith that they will bring something revolutionary out but i would say that it will not be till mid 2002.
after all the engineers must have been doing something over the last 3 years
if they have'nt i guess matrox is secretly a publically owned company so the managers dont care if the engineers dont do anything as the govenment pays them regardless. at least thats what happens in brittain.

i´m expecting a great gamers card late this year

but i don´t think it will be completely revolutionary like:
XBA TILER with 128 mb EDRAM for the gamer who wants to play at 3200*2400*64, but something nice and realistic, to compete against gf3 ultra.
it will probably cost the same as a geforce3 ultra too
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

mdHome: I think you should read carefully all post of JF_Aidan_Pryde and mine...

Matrox is only a backdoor for me if my primary next gen chip goes wrong or delays too much...

argh... I already promised myself that I leave these messages alone, but what a hell...

TDB: I don't have anymore any reason believe to see Matrox and XBA in same chip... ...but EDRAM isn't impossible.

I think we have very interesting autumn/chirstmas time comin...

                          Hello Nappe1
I have taken notice of your posts but at the same time I have to be realistic. I dont want to see peoples expectations rise especially after the past 2 years.

*sigh* Hopefully they got OpenGL this time...

                              Hi all,

I think that there will be a new Matrox card on the market within the next few months. I also think that this time it's a card with decent gaming performance.

I've seen Nappe1's comments on beyond3d, and he really seems to have heard something, but what makes me so sure about a new Matrox card ist this:
