The G550 originally had another name, G800. If you know what was expected of the G800 you know why it's regarded as a fiasco for it to finally appear as the G550.

It was a business card. Not a card for gaming.

Ant, I have to admit you´re right.
I simply wanted to push this bad bad thought far far far away, in a galaxy far away from here.

Hey roadie, can dualhead still be improved?
      My TV says No.

I hope there will be something as cool and surprising in the new chip as bump mapping in the old chip. Sorry, I played to much "Drakan" in the old days.

Maybe when you get a better TV. I watched OTA DTV, including 1080i HDTV, on my monitor last night and now I'm really itching to get that HDTV RPTV. Current RPTVs now support FireWire as well as component inputs.

There is no balance, just quality, or not quality.
Over time hardware tech will take care of the speed part.

If I wanted my quality to be "balanced" I would buy NVidia

                  -------

You mean balanced like "I am fast as hell, but my driver can´t see anything"?

I am currently sitting on my 19Monitor with 1280x1024@100Hz and I love "unbalanced". And Photoshop loves it too.
                  Only 3DStudioMAX is unhappy

Btw, Body Casting would be a really cool feature if you could export the results into 3dStudioMAX!!!

if you look halfway down that page, you will see that they fell for the good old "bitchin´fast 3d2000" joke.

                        Didn't know that....

But aparently nvidia did ask several sites that were hosting those pictures,to remove them until further notice....(NDA issues).

Anyways,we'll know what the real deal is with their new card in less than 2 weeks time(feb 5).

                          Its on the Apple site

The 933MHz and dual 1GHz Power Mac G4 models come loaded with the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX, a phenomenal graphics processor with 64MB of on-chip DDR memory. The NVIDIA GeForce4 MX delivers well over 1 billion textured pixels per second — performance pioneered on high-end scientific and engineering workstations. Kicking games and 3D graphics into high gear with hardware transform and lighting (T&L), per-pixel shading and drop-dead gorgeous effects at high resolutions, the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX takes over the transform and lighting calculation functions from your computer’s CPU, enabling more robust collision detection, better pathing algorithms and more realistic physics. Curves are curvier, character joints look more natural and the overall look and feel of the game is richer — and edgier.

                              does it really matter?

IMHO, GF4MX will have so sluggish memory interface that it will not get even close to that in real life.
