        Tis a Scottish laddie.

Sounds like "...version pixel shader and err displacement mapping with Matrox displacement mapping hardware..."

"Second version...", most likely, since DX9 will include pixel shader 2.0 and vertex shader 2.0

Ah ha! I just listened to the third video again and sho nuff ... he did say Matrox'es displacement mapping hardware! Didn't understand that first word when I listened to it the first couple times. The web sites should be hopping after this demo. Bring it on!

P.S. I don't recall seeing those Matrox logos on the demos before but it looks like my player picked up the cached version of these demos (rather than download something new) so I guess they were always there.

                Ant,

are you the guy to the left? The colours seem a bit off.

The first word sounded like "Fusion" to me. wonder if this is what Matrox calls their pixel sharder hardware?

I listened again and it still sounds like "version" to me, especially with this guy's funky accent.
Despite my nickname causing confusion, My name is not Bryce and I'm not a man...

I think he's saying Gaussian pixel shader.

Well if the presenter was scottish, that explains why the Japanese reporter didn't actually write anything about it - he wouldn't need a NDA because he wouldn't understand the guys accent anyway

                          Dan

ps All i get is '~ng version...'

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleys, knocks them over, and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

                              OMG!

Here we go! I only hope whatever 'displacement mapping hardware' matrox have that can run at that sort of speed will actually make it to market.

Oh, and after much consideration and playback of the soundtrack, I have to agree with Ant that 'tis a Scottish laddie' and hes saying 'version' at the start. The 'aye's are perfectly normal - it means 'yes' and is just a conversational filler like 'erm'.

So the prognosis is good - looks like someone has confirmed that Matrox have some hardware we haven't seen yet, and that its good enough to impress third party players in the business.

Wow! I'm freeing up space on my credit cards even as I type in anticipation of some nice new graphics hardware.

                                Video quality

Dammit! I want higher quality mpegs, theres lots of interesting looking text on the third one (overlayed on the image top left) that I'd love to be able to read!
