  • Pay Your Tributes Here...

    MURCers,

We all have good cause to be happy: we now know for sure that something is coming, & we also have a pretty good idea of what it is.

Parhelia is a cool name & will be the start of a new era, but as the owner of the original Matrox Millennium (surely the greatest graphics card of all time), I feel that the Millennium name should not be forgotten.

The start of one era, means the end of another. For a moment, let us look back instead of forwards; let us remember & pay tribute to the Big Daddy; the Millennium.

I loved my original Millennium....it's still pluggin away in a daycare center my kids used to attend (swapped em an old PC for a couple weeks daycare )
Loved my Millennium II...it's still in use in one of my sister's systems.
Got along with my G200 Millennium. It's in my daugters system now.
My MAX'd G400 Millennium is still an impressive card. I'll keep it till it dies. In my son's rig now.
My G450 Millennium served me very well at my ex-office from the day I got it. It's currently in an anti-stat bag right next to me, will probably end up a test card.
My G550 Millennium is what I am looking at right now. It's done good in it's short life, and will be my next office card when Parhelia moves into my home system.

And much to my joy, I was handed an old P1 system that would have otherwise ended up in the dumpster. In that system is a good old original Millennium. I will keep this card forever

    Never forget the name Millennium

I can't believe it! I was just about to post the same kind of thread with the exact same quote but I got sidetracked E-Mailing my buddy about the announcement announcement. I had thought of doing this a while ago but I was waiting for something more definite announced from Matrox. The animation was enough to start the proceedings.

My post was going to be in regards to the Max though ... the true King of Matrox 3D.

I must admit, I missed the original Millenium (well, to buy). I started with a Mystique 170, then went to a Millenium2 AGP, etc.

When I was working in the states, my office PC had a good old 4Mb Millenium1 though. Wasnt all that impressive, as I was using a crap 14 inch screen with it.

            Long live the Millenium though!

Although I have only had the Mystique 220, Millennium II and a Millennium G400MAX, I must say this hardware was by far the most appreciated items in my rig.

My Mystique 220 was actually re-commisioned last week, needed a video card to run in a Win2k Server.
My G400MAX is still being happily used by my brother - complete with a VooDoo2 12MB add-in card

Bless it, could never throw the old Matrox cards away, once I upgrade to something new my Ti200 will be sent to little brother with instructions never to throw away the MAX!
It cost one penny to cross, or one hundred gold pieces if you had a billygoat.

                        nostalgia

In my position I get to recommend computer equipment to those who ask me…. I always suggest Matrox and nothing else, (non who ask are serious gamers) My first Matrox card was the Millennium I, I moved on to the Millennium II then got my self a G200 which was wonderful but gave me problems with DVD at high res. A friend of mine upgraded to a GF MX card and suggested I do the same (I did) the card was out of my system in 2weeks (I hated the quality) and since I am not much of a gamer I re-commissioned my G200 till I got a G450 a month later. a year or so later the secondary head on the G450 went bad. Unfortunately the local shops no longer carried the Matrox brand they now all carried either ATI or the low end NVIDIA cards. I paid $250 to get a G550 shipped from the states to my door and I love this card. Now I cant wait to see what Matrox has to offer next. LONG LIVE MATROX.
