  • Headcasting...???

    Hey guys...

Do you think Matrox will incorperate Headcasting into the new Parhelia, but intend the use of it for games???

Maybe they used the feature in the 550 in preperation for the Parhelia, just to see what people thought... (everyone thought it sucked... and it does suck) but thats because it wasnt intended for games... but i could see it being used in games as an extra bonus to the Parhelia...

what do you guys think??? cause i was just wondering... well actually i am just bored but what the hell....

Actually, I always thought Max Headroom was too dumb to ever really happen. I suppose we are all wrong sometimes.

Now we are going to be playing Everquest or some such network game, and up will pop the virtual heads of the other people in the game, relaying the synthesized voices of these players instead of having to read text down in the message window.

There was an article some time back that demo'd what you are talking about.
A persons digital head could be 'grafted' onto a player's model in a shooter game. This was done with matrix skinning, and basically the same tecnique as M's headcasting apps.

I'd guess that if a game was released that supported something like this, it would have no problem working on Parhelia...

yeah that would be nice... and i suppose if you felt that it took to much room on the one monitor, u could use the head maxamized to the second one and the third one (hopefully) for a map or something...

hmmm triplehead... the combinations of screens would be limitless... unless.... you only had one monitor...

i wish the new P card and game creators would introduce this... right down to the pants and shoes you were wearing... cause there's nothing i hate worse than playing something like ghost recon and shooting an ali in the head at close range when he comes running out of no where... hehe

            Headcasting????!!!

I had hoped that matrox buried that idea 2 years ago after releasing the G550. (IMO, it should have been buried long before the G550 was released, then I may not have hated it so much)

If it does turn up again, I am going to sacrifice the CD the software comes on to some un-named god

              head casting -

I am actuall working with a project at the moment which uses a version of head-casting to provide a verbal and expressive interface to computer systems for clients of community medicine...

We dont use Matrox heads though - they were too scary!

our avatar heads (necks and shoulders) cost £15-35,000 each and when modeled to their highest resolution look as good as Final Fantisy!

I have never heard of anyone actually useing head casting.... I hopped one day to find a site dedicated to silly avatars - I still think that arse casting has its place!
