    Re: gf2 ?

Maybe that was GF3 performance but with ultra super 16 something AA enabled compared to a GF3 with AA disabled

Goddamnit.... I wanna know the specs.... I catch myself coming back to my computer to check the forums to see if anything has leaked yet. This is too time consuming; why not just give us the specs so we can have normal lives again

      hehe!
      try that with a kyro2.

my point is: that they developed the chip to run at that speed, so of course they optimise to run at that speed, and you don´t need to underclock the gf2 to use it.
thats the same as saying the pentium4 sucks, because if you underclock it to 500mhz and compare it to a 500mhz pentium3 then the pentium4 would loose, nobody buys hardware because they want to underclock.

        Thats not how matrox works

I am sure the directors (owners, whatever) like to visit these forums and watch us squirm waiting on information on new products. So they withhold information until the very last minute to increase the squirm factor suffered by its followers

Only this time they have realized that they will have to release something good otherwise we would become bored and wonder off, thus ruining their fun.

(Of course, this description of matrox is probably completely false too)

          I thought

that there was a thread some time ago talking about Matrox leaving the "eTV" business.

A quick check of the news headlines in the archive section reveals this:

Matrox Graphics Pull Out Of The Low End Capture Market
News item posted at 19:53 GMT by Ant

Just following on from the previous item to bring you a quote on the future as far as consumer capture boards go from Matrox Graphics. The following is from a post on the Matrox TS forums.

Our video division does and always will release new capture cards for the semi pro and pro market. As far as low end capture cards go, the graphic's division currently have no plans on any new capture cards.

So it looks like the Matrox Video Products Group will carry doing what they have been doing (a la RT2000, RT2500), but as far as Matrox Graphics goes the Marvel G450 eTV is the end of the line at least for the foreseeable future. Capture boards do require a huge amount of investment in support so it is obvious why Matrox would want to drop it as a product in their current situation. Lets hope they can devote all of their resources into getting that high spec next gen product that we know we have in their R&D pipeline onto the market ASAP.
This move was quite logical - vast amount of resouces devoted in a product that perhaps didn't sell very well. Based on this, I highly doubt that another eTV card would introduced.

Its a bit sad about the eTV. I would have loved one, but the price was far far too high, seeing as I already had a G400.

I would have been willing to buy a G800 eTV if they had released it though.

BTW Ant; STOP TEASING! NOBODY BELIEVES YOU The email from Matrox that we have all received from Matrox states that we will see what we have been waiting for... and to my knowledge, nobody has been waiting for a G550 eTV... if anybody want capture and editing capability, just buy a RT2500...

I don't know why I felt teased... probably because of the Force (tm) or my Spidersense
