  • Relationship between Matrox and Madonion

    Hi!

Can anyone tell how deep is a relationship between Matrox Graphics (or some other manufacturer) and Madonion?

What type of information they are giving to each other?

Is possible to get such an information from Madonion, that some card manufacturer could optimize their products to get even better results for 3DMark than it would normally be possible?

Why do you think the majority of the highest 3DMarks are with NVidia cards??

Could it have something to do with nVidia cards being fairly fast?

why do you think that madonion released 3D Mark 2001 SE ?
To fix lobby scene problems with Kyro boards ?

My Kyro II gained an extra 300 marks compared to the first version.

Even if you use a G400 and a TNT2 on the same system the TNT will outpace the G400 significantly in this benchmark.

Well Nvidia cards are the fastest right now. But they have a larger gap down to the ATI boards in 3DMark than they have in other games or applications(glmark excluded).

SE also comes with PS1.4 which is currently only supported by ATI ...

You can look at it as you like, but it looks as if either they get some sort of sponsoring (would be debatetable) or they simply feel the urge to push everything to its limit and thus just have to stay in frontline with latest technology developments (I'd prefer the latter).

I am quite happy with the performance of my current system for now. It doesn't really help me getting above 1024x768 resolution with my 15" monitor.

But maybe if I can get that new Parhelia after couple of months, I would like to use some more colors (32-bit) and higher details...!

Does anybody know when is 3DMark 2002 comming? Perhaps something to show Parhelia preformance on...

Why don't you use 32-bit color? Nobody does it better than Matrox.

My G400 will play in 32-bit where my friends GTS won't.

Still 3DMark2001SE brought the GF3 a bit nearer to the R8500 and boosted the P4 quite a bit against the AthlonXP when one compares the same systems with 3DMark2001 and the SE version...

I guess MadIntelVidia couldn't stand the results 3DMark2001 was giving with the R8500 running circles around the GF3 and the Athlon doing the same with the P4.

(At least for the R8500 vs. GF3 those original numbers did in fact put an advantage to the R8500 that was not representing the real games out there - where the GF3Ti500 is mostly slightly faster. But when did MadOnion fix their benchmark when those T&L NVidia cards where put in a much too bright light??)

An easy guess: they will do it the same as they did with 3DMark2001 - They will wait until a certain manufacturer of 3D-chips has it's new chip out (the NV30) to be able to ensure that 3DMark2002 gives the "correct results"

If there's artificial intelligence, there's bound to be some artificial stupidity.

Personally i couldn't care less about my 3dmark score, but it would be damn nice to put down a number completely crushing all nVidia boards, just to make fun of them for awhile. After that i would return to the sweetness of UT2003 and never look at 3dmark again... ever.
