In the preliminary rounds, which will be held from 12 noon to 6pm on Wednesday, May 22, and Thursday, May 23, contestants will play against other players in free-for-all matches to establish their qualifying scores. Players with the top 16 scores will advance to the elimination-based tournament finals, which will start at 4pm on Friday, May 24. Officials from GameSpy will monitor and record the tournament play.

    AND *drumroll*

The Soldier of Fortune 2 tournament will be played on top-of-the-line Alienware PC systems, driven by AMD processors, and equipped with new graphics hardware powered by the Matrox Parhelia-512 graphics chipset, displayed on Viewsonic monitors with UPS back-up provided by CyberPower.

The top winner of the tournament will receive a fully-loaded Alienware PC, a new graphics card from Matrox, gift certificates for Best Buy, and other prizes in a package valued at over $3,000.

this means that the first consumer parhelia will go public 22 may, and that matrox think the drivers are stable enough for the public too.

furthermore, the competition is held near E3, so i think that the parhelia cards will be announced there.

If Matrox make a good showing at E3 then I reckon many people out will lose their misgivings over Parhelia's price. No wonder so many people are really buzzing about this card. The only ones that aren't are those that cant stand the idae of nVidia losing the crown.

It's not because they are giving cards to the winners they will give them those cards the SAME DAY! They could very well give them a certificate that entitles them to a Parhelia card once it's released....

well i don't think they are giving them beta boards ... but RETAIL BOARDS. now i wonder if the matrox cards are always delayed because they need so long to design some fancy packaging!

all i say: 22th may, retail boards. wooohoooo

ps. maybe they are giving them the cards, but without a driver cd LOL
