Perhaps what is more significant is that they are letting "a" version of Parhelia into the light (pun intended) much sooner than anyone (by which I mean, general public, i.e. like me) ever thought would happen, so maybe it's not ready now but it is going to be here SOO... sorry couldn't finish that
Our Father, who 0wnz heaven, j00 r0ck!
May all 0ur base someday be belong to you!
Give us this day our warez, mp3z, and pr0n through a phat pipe.
And cut us some slack when we act like n00b lamerz,
just as we teach n00bz when they act lame on us.
For j00 0wn r00t on all our b0x3s 4ever and ever, 4m3n.
Originally posted by Pace Hmm, who thinks Parhelia could have D3/UT2003 running simultaneously?
do you mean ut2003 on ond head and doom3 on the other head?
i think EVERY compter would be cpu-limted in that case, not less memory-limited.
i tried something like that on my old P2-400mhz with a permedia2,some years ago.
6 windows with quake2 and 1 window with unreal and 2 windows with glquake, of course the framerate was utter crap, but it was more a stabillity test( it didn´t crash ).

Yeah, I suppose if it can run 3 screens on UT, running 2 on D3/UT wouldn't be that bad. Can cards accelerate 2 3D apps at once? i.e. 2 separate copies of UT running simult?
well, my old permedia could do that, the question is are you allowed to run 2 copies of ut simultaneously.
they removed support for this in one the quake2 patches iirc, because it can be used as a cheat in multiplay, having alot of spectators all over the level, in different windows, can reveal the enemies positions.

i plan on playing all my games in singlehead anyway, i can´t afford 2 more monitors, I rather want one really GOOD 24" than 3 17" monitors. i like the idea about surround gaming though if i could afford 3 GOOD 19-21" monitors then i would go for it.

BTW, this is a strong indication of a card announcement at E3, because i really can´t imagine a discussion that goes like this:
matrox to winner of SOF2-competition: congratulations, you just won the all new parhelia.
winner: cool, how much videoram does it have?
matrox: ehh! i don´t really know yet, it might be 64mb it might be 256, or somewhere in between.
winner:
so they have to tell exactly what the first prize is, and the prize is not a chip, it is a card!
