Dungeon Siege is a DX 8.1 game.

I play it on my G400.

Ok, first of all, lets see. Who has a G400....come on...hands up!

    It's a DX6.1 part...yeah?

    Unreal Tournament is a DX7 game...yeah?

    Do you care?

Who can name a DX8 game? I don't know any, so help me out. And inform me, does it make a difference running on a G400?

Just thought I'd try and bring everyone wanting DX9/PS2/0.13 into the one thread.

And I'd ask you all....why? Who really cares about DX9? All I want to see is Displacement Mapping being utilised!

How many DX7 features does the G400 have (i.e. features introduced after DX6.1)?

The Parhelia is much more than a G400, and has DX9 features already. So, in 3 years say, what wont run on Parhelia?

If you're so worried about performance, wait on the results. This waiting for 0.13 is boring now (I've decided ).

    P.

Edit: I'd love to reply to this thread, but the fact I'm editing my post before I posted must have something to do with that particular disabililty

well, full dx9 compliance won´t be required in a looooong time, the only reason to want dx9 compliance would be because you don´t upgrade often, and want to keep the parhelia for 3 years, and still use it for games at that time.

think about it: geforce3 was the first dx8 card, do you think it will satisfy a hardcore gamer in ut2003? or other future REAL dx8 games?
my guess is that gf3 owners will have to disable most of the dx8 eyecandy anyway.

when dx9 is being pushed to its limits, then even a nv30 or r300 will choke. however i think the parhelia is a third generation dx8 card so it will probably run ALL future dx8 games great, but i don´t think a first generation dx9 card will run more than a few dx9 games great.

my point is: i don´t think dx9 compliance will make this card last any longer.

i myself is upgrading from a dx7 card (kyro2), so i can justify the purchase of a parhelia right now.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

Well, yeah - fair comments TDB

Plus FSAA isn't on the G400, but the main problem with my G400 is its performance. Even if it supported 16xFSAA etc, its not capable of it.

If Parhelia had full DX10 compliance now say, it will support all DX10 stuff sure - but in no way have the performance to satisfy it.

All I'm saying on the whole is look at the Parhelia. It's great, yes?

Assuming the cards are great too, I simple don't understand people waiting on 0.13. If you wait on Matrox cards, you wait a long time!

To all the people who waited on Parhelia, got annoyed, and are now awaiting Parhelia II (0.13), I hope you like this word: Soon.

And remember Matrox licensed Hardware Displacement Mapping to Microsoft to be used in DX9 but it can be implimented in the software itself. And from what I have heard it is not that hard for a developer to do.

so other cards will get software emulation for Dmaps?

woohoo! that increases the Dmaps popularity among developers, alot.

I think feck is an irish word, it is not considered a swear word, but it used in similar circumstances. I am a bit vague on its meaning but a fecker is something like a thief/arsehole.

If any one has seen "father ted" on TV, which uses feck at every oportuntity, but is not rated for obscene language.
