System 1:
AMD 1.4 AYJHA-Y factory unlocked @ 1656 with Thermalright SK6 and 7k Delta fan
Epox 8K7A
2x256mb Micron pc-2100 DDR
an AGP port all warmed up and ready to be stuffed full of Parhelia II+
SBLIVE 5.1
Maxtor 40g 7,200 @ ATA-100
IBM 40GB 7,200 @ ATA-100
Pinnacle DV Plus firewire
3Com Hardware Modem
Teac 20/10/40 burner
Antec 350w power supply in a Colorcase 303usb Stainless
The only reason i'd wait, is cos i don't have a system capable of getting the best out of a good graphics card.
I am gonna have to upgrade my top system, or change most of it, just to get soem of the real power the Parhelia out puts. By that time, the 0.13µ version will be out, and probably the next 2 versions as well.
I would at least like to upgrade to a DDR machine soon....
I keep saying it, but I guess it's worth saying again. For most gamers that already have a GF4Ti card, it's probably a moot point (unless you've got extra moola to spend any time you feel like it). The GF cards should last long enough to possibly see the next generation of Matrox cards. (Even though I expect Parhelia to last longer for anyone that's able to get one now than the GF4's will, lots of people admit that games that push either hard are a ways off still.)

So the gf cards do triplehead as well as DM?
Oh and a huge pipe for sending data

As far as triplehead goes- most of us can't afford three monitors for one computer, especially after we lay out the cash for the video card. For those who can, sure, go for it. (DOH )
DM: I expect this to be available in a suitable number of titles that GF4 owners will miss it in exactly, oh, not in the next year, heh. Figure on DX9 titles using it. It's also good to know that Matrox says several developers are jumping on the feature (seriously, not joking). I don't however expect to see many titles in the next year, as I said, using it. You've got to consider the video cards in use by the majority of gamers during this timeframe, and the amount of time needed to implement the feature into a game engine. I'd guess that adding in BM support is likely not trivial, and having a game support modes with and without it (a necessity given the current installed base of cards, as I also pointed out), will make this a rare thing during this time period.
The huge pipe for delivering data goes back to the same thing as the DM- installed base of cards currently in use. Many people are still using 32MB cards, and even those that don't don't necessarily have screaming demons in their cases. Game developers will develop their titles to run adequately on the lowest common denominator, since they would like their software to sell.
So while all of those are great features imo for Parhelia, I doubt you're going to see anyone who has a GF4 crying because you can use them and they can't (well, except for triplehead output- but you provide the money for two more monitors, and I'll sell the GF4 and get the Parhelia right now ).

BTW, make fun of my GF4Ti is good enough for those that already have it comments. The fact still stands. Just like the G400 was good enough for quite a while after it became second rate in performance and features (3D, not dual-head, to which I still think it's the best, though not by much now). For some people that didn't play much on their PCs in 3D games, G400 is still good enough.
(BTW, I was one of those that kept my G400 in my primary gaming rig when it was still good enough for games. GF / GFDDR both came out during this time, but for most of that yearlong period, the G400 was good enough. It wasn't until about the time of GF2 that games came along in which, for my purposes and entertainment, G400 was no longer good enough.)

Not according to my poll. Roughly 2/3 of respondents opted to spend an extra $100 USD for a trihead P over a DH version. Presumably people wanted that third head rather than simply wanting the additional memory on my hypothetical P cards. It might be interesting to run this poll again after the hype has died down and after the boards have been shipping for a short while.

Hehe. I know. I was one that voted for the tri-head card too. But that wasn't because I could get two more monitors to use with the card, but because I would want to have the option available in case I could figure out how to get two additional monitors at a later time.
