  • Question about Parhelia boards

    Hi,
I have a question for anyone that would have seen parhelia boards (psss, haig!): will they have heatsink mounting holes like the g400 and all nVIDIA'S cards? Mounting heatsink or heat exchangers on a video card without mounting holes (like the Radeon 8500 64 MB flavor) just sucks; I don't really like applying Artic silver epoxy on electrical devices... Also, it voids the board warranty if not, will it be possible to get from matrox the traces layout or an X-ray picture of the board? (has nothing to do with the hidden RSN feature implemented secretly Seriously, i did this to drill 2 holes on my radeon to mount the water jacket; cost me 50 bucks to have the X-ray taken...)

Also, I'd like to know if Parhelia will work with a wide-aspect display? Because I managed to get a Sony W900 (and it looks AWESOME; i'm really eager to turn it on ). Also, would a wide Aspect diplay work in a Dual/TripleHead configuration? In Surround Gaming?

Man, that just made my day! Now, where did I put that 80 watts peltier ...

But about multi-display: will I be able to use the wide-aspect resolution (1920*1200) as primary display with a standard 4:3 display running at 1600x1200 as the second head? I know that when using Triple Head, you are limited to 1024 vertical resolution max; is it the case using only two display?

if I understand correctly, then you have total freedom if you only use dualhead.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

I don't know, that why I was asking if you're limited to 1024 vertical resolution when using only dual displays, and also if you can pair a wide aspect and a normal 4:3 monitor together (both CRT analog, not DVI displays)...

I'm no expert but I dare say if the G400 or the G550 could do it the Parhelia can as well. The DH of the Parhelia is the same as the one on the G550 except for full overlay on both heads as well as 400Mhz Ramdacs on both (though if I'm talking BS someone please correct me)

                It's actually 1280x1024.

Well, that means i'll have some black border on my main screen in surround gaming and I won't be using triple head in windows But at least I'll be able to do dual-head using my main widescreen + regular monitor.

Now, come to papa big P...

Haig, will all three resolutions need to be absolutely identical, or will only the vertical res need to be identical? In the latter case, franky would be able to run something like this:

                    [1024x768] [1280x768] [1024x768]

I don't think this would be the way it'll be, but I'm curious

All 3 displays will need to run the same resolution and refresh rate. Only DualHead operation will allow independant resolutions.
