  • Parhelia killer apps?

There was a time when the hardware, to be really succesfull, needed a killer app.
Now with the increasing time needed to develop a new game, it's really difficult for a hardware producer to have one or more killer app to power it's product.
However, with the DirectX being so modular, there is always space to easily improve an existing game, I think.

I have had this thought while looking some reviews of Morrowind that spoke about the visual quality of this game.

Do someone know if Matrox is working with any software house to code a patch improve a game? (apart from Surround gaming, obviously)

Just for a pair of example:
    1) Displacement mapping used to design the terrain of FS2002 with the automatic LOD
    2) Bump mapping and all the new eye-candy features to improve Morrowind (would be interesting to see the "head speaking" function applied to the game NPC)
    3) Special filters for Photoshop et similia (by mapping the image on a poly and applying the 3D functions....)

(uhmmm...I need an Italian forum, I need too much time to write those messages and the result it's ugly )
Sat on a pile of deads, I enjoy my oysters.

well, i suspect a special 10 bit-per color patch for photoshop, or something like that.
surround gaming is THE killer-app for simulators IMO.
and yes, displacement mapping is VERY handy for large-scale terrains(especially with depth adaptive tesselation).

and donĀ“t feel bad about your english-skills, it is not my native language either
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.
