  • I have a vision

A sick, twisted twilight zone like vision, but I like it and it all MINE !
Do you get it !? It's MINE !!!

Now that we've settled this, I can tell you about MY vision:

    I see a quad cpu computer with 4 Parhelias - 1 AGP + 3 PCI 64bit @ 66Mhz (I know they don't exist, but then again it's MY vision, not yours so shut up !!!) and 12 (!!!) screens...

I'm talking here about a video wall with a resolution of 4800x1200 or maybe even 6144x1536. Imagine that kind of picture quality coming from a single computer, imagine the possibilities...

Pixar ??? We don't need no stinking pixar

Actually the G450 MMS has been announced, so the G200's should have been replaced already.

PCI 64bit @ 66Mhz is 4 times as fast as normal PCI. You can drive some really impressive stuff this way.

                  slightly off-topic, just curious...

What cards do there exist in PCI 64 bit ?
So far, I have only heard of SCSI-controllers... Are there others ?

edit: speaking of the MMS, i wondered when they are gonna make the Parhelia MMS line... sweet... playing games on 15360x1024 (i think u can have 4 MMS at the most, so... 4x3x1280)... that would be nice... let's hope Matrox will bundle the monitors tho...

Dogbert ohhhh Dogbert, you have the right idea but don't go far enough. Think Hypertransport tech from AMD. You won't need no stinking PCI bus, at least 20 times faster than pci 64. I think it supports up to 64 devices (cpus, graphics cards, sound cards, storage devices, memory access,.....)

Now thats fast, and then? We really don't need Pixar, hehehe.

for the record, Intel, IBM and AMD are all currently trying to get the industry to support their succesor to PCI bus.

I think Intel is supporting PCIx10, AMD supports Hypertransport, and I forgot what flavor IBM is promoting. At the moment, AMD is the frontrunner. Be ironic and cool if Intel was forced to support it.
