Apparently NV30 isn't even taped out yet, so making the shelves before Christmas is gonna be hard... (source: the register)

err actually it was joke but it ended up as if I was a tech guru giving you top hype information about what was about to change in the futur. Actually I'm from year 2025 and Matrox have bought nVidia. ATI still exists but just to show the kids what is wrong and what they shouldn't do. Bit boys still have their websites but in 2025 the world KNOWS it is vaporware, and the guy responsible for this is a 32 years old (remember he will be _that_ old on 2025). All AMD engineers have defected to transmetta or bought back into Intel's team. And president Bush JUNIOR will choke 3 times with, in order, a mars, m&m's, and another bretzel at the end of his mandate. Apart from that, nothing really interresting.
Let those who want to be simple, be simple.

Hey, the fact that the NV30 hasn't taped out yet doesn'T mean much for nVIDIA. Remember the GeForce 3? The shipping versions had an A2 chip (and later an A3); Going from A0 to A2 is only two revisions; can be done in a little more than a month if the changes aren't too dramatic. I do believe nVIDIA's CEO when he said that it will be on the shelves in about 3 months. Give them 5-7 weeks ot wrap the final design up, 2-3 weeks to get the first batches out to manufacturers and 2-3 weeks for the manufacturers to produce a reasonnable ammount of cards; late october in best scenario, late november in worse scenario; in both case, it will be available for the holidays. There's one thing sure though: the ESP will be $500 AND a lung/kidney (in some rare cases they will accept a testicule as replacement ); Man, the memory alone is going to be at least $225-250 alone. add $100-125 for the GPU, and you get a very dark picture for the wallet-conscious...

some of us, actually like these speculation-threads.
I like to speculate about future cards, but that doesn´t mean I will buy them all.

didnt mean to put a dampner on the speculation sorry if it sounded like it just thought id put my pennies worth in tho.

                hehe!

I understand, sometimes I feel the same way.

BTW, i think its great that we talk about the competitions cards too, (without starting a flamewar), there aren´t many places left where one can do that.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

The Taiwanese manufacturer also claimed that towards the end of the year we'll see cards overclocked to billy-o, which might really give Matrox competitors a run for their money.

                    Whats Billy-o?

Hehe – good question. It’s a slang term that doesn’t translate particularly well. It’s best interpreted as “as far / fast as you like”
