Well, perhaps some yuppie watching his surround graphics on his B&O (...err...Matrox...) graphics card. The Parhelia is not exactly what you'd call a mainstream card.

...aHA! Admiring the power of his possessions from afar?

Well I think just about any MURCer Avatar would look better in his place. I propose we launch a Design the new Parhelia II retail box contest.

          What do you think?
How can you possibly take anything seriously?
          Who cares?

It's sad that as a Canadian company they do not have any presence in the Toronto market anymore. Where once you can find a GXXX card at every local retailer, I do not see any retailers stocking the P. let alone the older products. Even Futureshop does not carry any.

I'm not sure about their online sales or OEM deals with ???, but this is disheartening for me as a once avid user of their products.

I still find it difficult to believe that a city the size of Portland (Oregon, not Maine), there isn't a single freakin' store anywhere that sells _any_ Matrox product!

I would _really_ like to know what their sales numbers are like, because it's just difficult to imagine how they're selling things which cannot be bought outside the online community, and their own corporate website.

Of course, it doesn't help in that most online review sites (HardOCP) decided to be real dicks about trashing Matrox.

The last time I saw a Matrox card on sell was over a year ago (g550) and that was at a computer fair. I never did see any G400's for sale. I also believe that we have a couple of Matrox guys visit this site on a regular basis. SalesSoup, where are you now?

I can see g450's and g550's ever where here, but I have to head into Electrical City (a whole damn suburb devoted to PC shops to see any P cards)

Similar story in London. On Tottenham Court Road (where all the PC/tech retailers are) there are some P's, some G550s, but Matrox is only in maybe 20% of the stores.

But what is really interesting is what else is on sale. Basically, there are equally few Radeon 8500s (a few original Radeons though!), some TNT2s (IIRC), but what everybody is selling, what absolutely dominates, is the Geforce4.

But only 1 brand: Creative. and basically the Ti4400 and the GF4MX's (beleive it or not). All 3D Blasters or whatever they call em.

So it looks like in Tott Crt Road at least, only one company of all the board (note not chip) manufacturers is actively marketing through the retail channel. I think that a few tricks are being missed here...

well, alot of danish online stores have parhelias in stock, and i think some of those online stores also functions as real hardware stores.

I havent been in a real hardware store for ages(online stores are much cheaper), so I could be wrong.
This sig is a shameless atempt to make my post look bigger.

P's have been on the online stores here for a while, but nobody could deliver. When the first shipment came in they all disappeared like soap bubbles. I just managed to snag one of the last three in the country. Lucky guy...

I can pick up Parhelia - but only OEM - (have to hit the bank first) at 4-5 h-w vendors in the city. Every but one vendor carries G550 and most of them carry G450.

I saw a P at a local monthly computer show.

EDIT: Cool, 100th post. I'm a MURCer finally.
