You are aware that all nVidia chips since the original TNT are based on the same core, right? The first new core design is the NV30, one of the reasons for the big amount of delays.

Drizzt: Go look round the web at Q3 benchmark scores at 640x480x16. You will see that a P4 2.8GHz scores 450fps, a P4 2.0 scores 300fps, a Athlon 1GHz scores 150fps, and a Duron 800 125fps. I think At this resolution, the faster the CPU, the more frames (of geometry etc) you produce. Then it's up to the graphics card to render it. Only the fastest of cards will manage the 450fps, but you should see CPU scaling whatever card you have (exc G100s ). And when I said it uses 100%, I wasn't kidding, I'll screenshot Task Manager if you wish.

Here's an experiment for someone to do - play an OpenGL game (since Drizzt claims Direct3D sucks up the CPU) in low resolution with v-sync enabled, and tell us how much CPU is being used. I think we'll all learn a little something from the results.

Name any game that doesn't use as much CPU as there is available.

Games are not designed for graceful multitasking.

When the GPU is busy rendering the CPU might get busy waiting in a loop for the GPU to complete the operation.

The drivers are typically buffering a lot to avoid wasting CPU cycles, but when a game is GPU limited it will wait for the GPU.

Yet, the game will show up with 100% CPU usage in the task manager.

There is no way you can tell how much of that 100% is spent doing useful work and how much is spent waiting.
