    Just clicked away and then noticed your sig at the last minute...i850 and SDR? I thought to myself, 'Eh, that's a RAMBUS chipset, isn't it?'

    Checking the Asus site says the P4B is an i845 board

      indeed the P4[B] is based on i845s

      i think the asus naming system goes like this (i like their mobo naming system... simply and clean.. but when it comes to asus graphics cards.... )

      For Intels
      first character --> P = Pentium
      second character --> 2/3/4 Generation
      third character --> B = uses Intel chipsets supporting SDRAMs, T = Intel chipsets supporting RDRAMs, S = Any SiS chipset
      optional next 3 numbers --> Bus speed
      newer naming system with 8x (i.e. P4S8X) --> 8x chipset like the SiS648

      For AMDs
      first character --> A / K = Athlon/K-series (older AMD CPU namings)
      second character --> 5/6/7/8/ --> generation number
      third character --> S = Uses SiS chipsets / M = uses AMD chipsets / N = Uses nFORCE chipsets / V = uses VIA chipsets
      optional next 3 number (most K7 boards have this) --> Memory frequency supported
      newer naming system with 8x (i.e. P4S8X) --> 8x chipset like the nVIDIA nFORCE 2 / VIA KT400

      I got no life and decided to wrote these. hehe... o yea... and Asus AMD boards suck

          They didn't use to though. The A7V133 was the best KT133A board. Say what you want about the KT133A but the Asus board is the best with that chipset!

                Yeah, they didn't want big ol' Intel realizing that ASUS shipped Athlon boards now... I've got two K7M's, but they are both of a later revision and come in branded boxes - although their logo is somewhat small compared to the rest of the texts on the packaging

                  The best of the first gen Athlon boards was the MSI-6167

                    i think this thread should get an award for the thread to get off topic the quickest, not one person has answered my question

                      at over $900 Canadian I don't think any shops will even stock one.

                        I think the answer is no
                        I was interested to see if 256 helped anything.

                            Why would anyone spend 900 bucks on a buggy no full DX9 core. The card is designed for the DCC guys, while the drivers arn't very optimized and the hardware itself not very DCC-oriented.

                            If anybody has that money to throw at they would probably get a FireGL Z1 / Quadro 4 XGL 750 / 3DLabs Wildcat VP + one Radeon 9000 PCI (PowerColor, dispite their crappy color ) card for third screen. (i think such setup may work)

                            256MB won't help fps in most (and probably all) games. Unless a 128+MB texture...

                              unreal 2k3 hidden ultra high settings, may benefit form 256...maybe.
                              it would be cool to find out.

                              Could the core be a later revision?, with no banding?
                              maybe the pcb has changed , and no longer cayses banding?

                              here's hoping
