There are no 32 bit PCI cards that run at 66mhz in a 32 bit PCI system.

I don't know of any 32bit 66MHz pci slots. However there were some 64bit pci slots that only ran at 33MHz instead of full 66MHz speed.

Look at the Tyan MP motherboard. 32bit 66Mhz PCI slots.

              There are

              32bit 33Mhz (standard fare)
              32bit 66Mhz (uncommon)
              64bit 33Mhz (rare)
              64bit 66Mhz (common in workstations)
              64bit 100Mhz/133Mhz - PCI-X (common in workstations)

Please supply a link, becuase I couldn't find one. VJ, those cards will only run at 66mhz in a 64bit pci bus, unless J1NG is right and tyan makes a board with a 32bit/66mhz pci bus.

Sorry, was misreading the thing the wrong way round (late at night). The motherboard I was refeing to was indeed a 64bit/33Mhz system rather than the elusive 32bit/66Mhz bus system.

Sorry, my fault there. Shouldn't be reading late at night when half asleep on technical data

Made a search now and it seems makers didn't make the 32/66 because the 64/33 was backward compatible with 32/33 and it offered the same bandwidth as the 32/66. So yeah, I believe trk2 is right that there are no boards that do 32/66. But not that it doesn't exist.

                            Yup. What Greebe said.
I speculate that Pitou will end up being a Px50 card that will meet the minimum requirements of the next windows version for basic desktop operation. I believe that M will leave the gaming market completely, and leave the FPS counters to the other guys. They will continue with their tradition of high quality 2D gfx, with the exception of certain CAD certifications, and forget about gaming cards alltogether....

The 8x parhelia (Pitou) cards will be nothing to hold your breath for....

To be honest, I think that Matrox should concentrate on more than one market though (if it's possible), and have a full range of cards. They need ultra low end (think another G-Series respin for even lower cost), mid-range mainstream (Px50), high end gaming (something like the P8x, Pitou we want), and higher end pro cards. Possibly get into the mobile area.

Also, I think Matrox really started something with Surround Gaming and I want them to keep it up, it even makes FPS Kiddies who think 'Parahelia sux0rz' drool.

32bit/66 I do think it exists

both promise and highpoint make raid cards that 66mhz capable, but they are 32bit cards....it may be that the backward compatible 64/66 slots can run at 32/66 ?

                                Edit: hmmm...only 64/66 and 64/32 exist.
But 32bit/66 cards do exist and can be placed in (part) of a 64bit/66 slot.

and all(?) 64/66mhz are 3 volt only slots, and are notched so the wrong cards will not fit....if it fits It'll work
