You can only rehash the same old worn out rumours about a new Matrox card that may or may not be on the horizon so many times before it gets painfully stale. The forums have basicly degenerated into aimless "I'm tired of waiting" and the even more annoying "I'm not saying anything, but if I were you I'd wait" posts. If you're tired of waiting don't announce it, just buy a new card if you want to and don't worry about it. And could the BB boyz PLEASE lay off on the "I know something you don't know" taunts? That more frustrating than anything else because with the release of the G550 after all the "If I were you I'd wait for the next card" chatter we honestly dont belive it anymore.

If you have to think about every word you post and have fear that your opinion is dirt and will be treated as such, you will be a lurker and not a member. Everyone has the choice to be cool or not. I have membership status on many other forums and NONE of them are as hostile as this board. Life is to short to waste time getting your ass kicked on the MURC. The MODS here are the problem. They are in attack mode at all times. They even defend their choice to be abusive. If you are serious Ant, this is were you should start. Is it required to add a negative comment to every thread posted? Fish or cut bait

Actually, I think part of the problem is we have people like LAM who only drop in to dump on threads. I am sure some of the regular's, including mine, is contribuiting. But I think the major problem is people trying to change other people's minds and thread crapping.

it is a shame that the Mods are being attacked like this.....their job is frustrating and no matter what they are accused of something (bashing/flaming/misuse of power)while doing a thankless task here......

Every Mod here when they started was ridiculed for everything they said/did, and I dont believe it is fair.

Dont get me wrong, I DONT agree with everything said by everyone (even the Mods), but common sense usually prevails once a Mod kicks into the fray. They are here to keep the peace.

MURC was started to help people with issues with thier M product, and has grown to assisting ALL types of problems.

Oh what a simplistic attitude and approach to the problem.

What poor image quality are you referring to Joel? I spent over $300 on a GeForce 3 and I am still looking for poor image quality. Furthermore, I have never tried to convince anyone here to buy one, or make anyone feel bad because they still like a Matrox card. Yet you render this absolute verdict about poor image quality and fps is not the end all be all of a video card with anything other than a Matrox card. Or are you baiting for someone to defend the positon so you can rally the troops to flame them?

One of the reasons I don't visit here much any more is the treatment given to those who don't necessarily share the same views and opinions as the control group do. If you got a valid argument, make it. If you can't bring someone around to your point of view, quit insulting them. I think some do it just to get a rise out of you and they don't leave disappointed.

This forum used to help people and tactfully inform them when they said something that wasn't totally accurate. It was a place where ideas were shared and questions were answered without talking down to those of lesser knowledge. Now, you better not express an opinion or say anything that isn't considered correct in the eyes of the informal leaders here.

I said it once and I will say it again for those that were unable to pick it up the first. IT WAS A JOKE. The reason for all the smilies. Like Dil said this is a thankless task and each and everyone of us Mods have been attacked in one form or another for things we have done. I guess some just feel that we are easy targets.

BTW Just because we do beta test Matrox stuff does not mean that we don't also look at the competition. And hundreds of reviews can't all be wrong when they say that the Matrox line of cards still have the best image quality and the standard by which all cards are measured.

Very good, I found this thread very interesting. Although I can handle trash-talk it’s unconstructive and it’s not very nice to see that your post is being ridiculed.

In my opinion I have always been polite and I have most of the time been treated respectfully.

Even though I am a new in this forum I have been with Matrox since the day of the original Millennium (those were the days, my friend…)
Anyway, I am not in a position to tell other members to behave but as I said before : ALL murcer’s should be nice to each others and follow the wisdom of Winnie the Pooh...

Those of you who have read my post knows that I have ordered a Gainward Geforce 3 card and I will for myself conduct a image quality test with my dual input Sony F-500 21” monitor.
I will compare between a GF3 and G-200.

I would find such a post immensely interesting, but in case it’s inappropriate to discuss such issues please let me know..

I did read the fourth post down.

I also asked "Or are you baiting for someone to defend the position so you can rally the troops to flame them?" Was just wondering. It was the last sentence of that paragraph. Smile added so I too can throw something out there that could be controversial, and later say it was a joke. It's just an example of what I think some members have turned to while waiting for something more constructive to do.

Look, SComp, most of the "informal leaders", from what i`ve seen, have more than one card, IIRC Rags has, what, four? I havent seen anyone flaming you, nor anybody else for that matter simply because they have other cards besides Matrox.

I jump in on a discussion about GF3/Radeon vs Matrox when i sense that somebody feels i`m stupid for sticking with my G400 and not having a KyroII/GF/Radeon ...

Look, i`m a kind of a pacifist (most of the time), so i guess a pacifist would be the best choice for a mod for some of the ppl here. But, not all mods are pacifists, some are easily angered, some have a specific way of talking in these fori. People have to accept that, its not like the mods are the UN Peace Core ... they`re normal people ...

Oh and BTW, what stops a normal user from "beating" a mod (flaming)? From what i`ve seen, they dont have much "real" power, they can only delete posts in their forum. So why does everyone who starts a flame war, after a couple of flames, starts to accuse the mod of flaming, not being nice etc.? I mean, mods rarely delete other posts IIRC, and the other party involved usually complains that "The mods are abusive, they`re flaming me etc."

Everyone must know that mods are real people, with different attitudes, not some bots ...

I`d like it if some mods calm down, and try to answer as calmly as possible, to avoid exactly these discussions ...

Oh, I don't know, Joel... a few people thanked me in my time. Maybe part of that was because I tried to keep my "job" as motub the moderator separate from my personal personality as HollyBerri the member. The moderator couldn't coin the immortal phrase "damn minis" (right, Dil?)-- the moderator had to be fair to minis and considerate to everyone. The moderator couldn't close a thread she found personally repugnant but perfectly "forum legal" just because she didn't like the views or personality of that thread's originator. Perhaps now you understand a little better why there was a HollyBerri separate from a motub... HollyBerri, who was not a moderator, was free to dislike people and be as antisocial as she wanted, but motub the moderator was absolutely forbidden from any such behavior. I never made any secret that I was the same human being-- same sig, same info in the profile, and, of course, I said so. I thought it was important that I made a visible effort to separate my personal opinions from my duties as a moderator. A lot of people ridiculed me for that attitude, but recent events seem to bear me out. Abuse of the "multi-nick" strategy (by having multiple nicks without disclosure, and using them almost solely for abusing members) has brought the Admin into it, and now he's had to post a whole thread, since his first request for calm didn't end the troubles...

Let's face it , gentleman Moderators-- if you guys (by whom I mean mostly Greebe, though Kruzin and Joel aren't much better at impulse control) ain't the problem, you sure ain't doin' your job, by any standard. And Rags, you are not doing the long-term members a service with your acting-out, either.

Yeah, we're all bored, but that's no excuse. And yeah, it's only a forum on the Internet, but that's what makes this kind of vicious idiocy just.... sad. And it's just disgusting to see people Ant has trusted with the responsibiliy of protecting and maintaining his forums basically throwing Ant's money down the toilet.

I am what I am. I very rarely fire up for just anything of no consequence. You of all people should know this. When I post I say what I mean and mean what I say. I don't want people scratching their heads wondering what I meant. I want it to be crystal clear.

I don't treat minis unfairly. If they have gripes/bitches/complaints/questions, I will address them by responding to each one in turn. Maybe I use emotiocons too much, but it's one way for me to show what I think of what I read. It's not meant as a tool to rile anyone up. Some people need to grow up, including you, and grow some thicker skin IMO.

The thing is that I will go overboard to help ANYONE out, if I think I can. But if they are just posting a bunch of noise, then it's hard for me to feel for them. I don't know where anyone in real life can go and be an open ass to someone at a help counter, then say by the way I have a problem with this....without getting some BS back. This internet "put a flower on every post, so I don't offend anyone" has gone way too far. This forum is far from hostile. Only certain INDIVIDUALS have been feeling this way for one reason or another, and maybe with good reason. But I bet most of the people who visit here have a good experience. Lately there has been more flaming than what we have seen for the last year or so. But think back to more than two years ago, there was way more flaming, and it was allowed to continue without moderating. Ant had a very good hands off policy to most things unless it was illegal. But now we have moderators and everyone expects the moderators to see to it that there is a flower stuck in every post. Screw that. Grow up, walk outside for a while and look around. The real world isn't a Utopia, and neither will the internet ever be a utopia. HUMAN beings are the structure of the internet and forums. HUMAN beings are multicolered, not drones or perfect individuals.
