  • Wow, another year has gone by already. And what a difference a year makes.
My Sens look terrible, 7-1 Habs at the moment.
You know I like Don Cherry, he goes off the handle sometimes, but I don't agree with most of the criticism he takes from other media moguls, who aren't saints themselves.
I'm for the no-touch icing. Too many players use it as a means of a cheap shot. I remember way back that it was talked about giving a 2min penalty to the team who iced the puck. I don't believe in that, but no touch icing is a real no brainer. I can't see any positives without it nowadays.

    • Would be a real shame if the managers change their minds after a tragedy occurs.

      • This Curling business is really bothering me (TSN is showing Women's Curling rather than hockey...). The only game I have to watch today is Calgary & Vancouver.
Wish we got more American games in Canada - would've loved to watch the Pens/Devils game.

          • After Colorado is done beating Vancouver tonight...
7th COL 88 pts, 4 Games Left, EDM, MIN, VAN, MIN
8th VAN 86 pts, 5 Games Left, MIN, CGY, COL, EDM, CGY
9th NAS 84 pts, 5 Games Left, CLS, DET, STL, STL, CHI
(CLS is Columbus if you were wondering )

Honestly, especially considering how bad Vancouver has been the last few games, I'm thinking it might end up 7th Colorado, 8th Nashville, 9th Vancouver...
Forsberg has been awesome for Colorado (3 points tonight so far, 12min left in 3rd). Adam Foote comes back later this week.
Nashville has 4 of their last 5 games against teams which will not make playoffs.

              • 6th Colorado, 91 pts, 2 games left. (Lost in OT to Minnesota today, got 1 point).
                7th Calgary, 90 pts, 3 games left.
                8th Vancouver, 88 pts, 3 games left.
                ------------------
9th Nashville, 87 pts, 3 games left. (Lost in OT to Detroit today, got 1 point).
                10th Edmonton, 86 pts, 2 games left.

**update: Vancouver has all but beaten Calgary now, 6-2 w/ 15min left in the 3rd, updated standings***
Even with Vancouver pulling ahead, I still like Nashville's odds over Vancouver.

                • The East is interesting, because Washington could very well leap frog into 3rd!
                  3. Carolina 90 pts, 3 games left. (Division leader, same div as Washington).
                  4. New Jersey 93 pts.
                  5. Ottawa 92 pts.
                  6. NY Rangers 91 pts, 4 games left.
                  7. Philadelphia 91 pts, 3 games left.
                  8. Boston 91 pts, 3 games left. (updated, Boston got an OT loss tonight)

                  • Edmonton eliminated from the race
Washington & Carolina are now tied at 90pts, but Carolina has the edge in the season series, so they would get the spot.

                    • The West has their 8 teams set, although the order can still change. No Vancouver.

                      The East is still messy.

                      • Basically the only game left to watch is Florida-Washington. If WSH gets a point, they get 3rd place, and Carolina is out. Otherwise its Carolina in 3rd.

                        • Woah, Ottawa will either play Montreal or Pitts in the first round. Ouch.
At least the NHL got their wish, playoff standings are not finalized until the last games are played.
Funny how just a month ago all 6 Canadian teams could have made the playoffs. I wonder if we will ever see that happen.

                            • Florida-Washington tied 1-1 in the second. If Washington gets a point, they are in, if not, then Carolina is. I like Carolina (Staal, Ward), but it seems everyone else wants Washington in (Ovechkin). Washington has been on fire though, so it doesn't look good for me

I would love to see Philly-Pittsburgh, and Montreal-Ottawa.

Update** 3-1 Washington in the 3rd. Looking on the bright side, Eric Staal would be a big bonus for the World Championships.
