I don't want to move wife and 3 kids. I don't particularly like to live in London and whenever I'm at the London office, I get a feeling of being in a factory. Long lines of desks which are too small and to close to each other.
It wouldn't be Shell/RD, would it?

It's alright as long as they buy you a house agree to pay removal exspenses and pay travel exspenses. Plus a big rise for the extra cost of living.

One year rent (but not for a place I'd rent) and some removal expenses. Gross would rise by around 100%. Also, they _say_ they'll pay bigger bonuses over there (but then, they've been saying that for over 3 years now....).
I'm the penultimate last to say money is not important, but _more_ money is not a driver for me. Sure enough, more is always welcome, but not so much that I'd move for it. Also, I'd have to forget a 4-day contract, they don't have that (for my job) in London. Even if they made an exception, I'd be the first (methinks/expects) to get the boot if markets went down.
In any case, I like living here and am not inclined to move unless I have to.
Congrat on the good news BTW

Actually, that would be great. After 14yrs, the money they'd have to pay me to get rid of me entirely would be rather nice.
Seriously, At least over here, refusing to move abroad is not usually held to be non co-operative.
I'm not afrid of anything like that. It's just that I like the work I do and will have to start to like some other work I'll be doing.

Yep, they could do that. I am relying on my reputation being good enough that that won't happen. Then again, I am a naive kinda bugger, so I may be dissapointed.
BTW PIT:, thx for all the moral support sofar
