  • Time for a new soundcard

ok.... since i work in audio and visual media my greatest problem has been the sound card... i have skimped on that section far to long... working in Cubas SX is hell on an Audigy card.... time for me to get a new PRO card this time no mater the cost...

for $550 iam getting this litle baby.... which so far seems to be the best choice for my kind of work plus its expandable....

    Now THAT's a soundcard!

I'm curious to know what else is competing in that space. I'm aware of the cards from M-Audio and RME Audio. What others did you look at and what made you pick this one?
Blah blah blah nick blah blah confusion, blah blah blah blah frog.

ive looked up the M audio, echo, aardvark cards and RME... the reason i went with the Luna II is the price pluse value..... most of the other cards do not provide in VST dsp power (not as much as cream ware... the other cards are mostly about I/O.... i was thinking of getting the Echo MiaMIDI for $160... but its not realy that much of an improvemnt over the Audigy other than better DACs and real ASIO suport... same theing for the M-Aoudio audiophile 2496... (that one has no balanced inputs ... just rca... thought of the aardvark q10 (too expensive for me ATM... and the direct pro 2496.. but it fell short on the DSP power... the RMEs are great sound cards but getting them in here means paying extra .. the creamware card i can get loacaly for less than having to import and it provides great qulity and power.... if i need more I/Os in the future all i need to do is get the BOB and voila... 8 extra I/Os... more than i need for my kind of work.... i dont have an acustic room so that is a greater priority than the xtra I/Os at the momnet... one step at a time i gues,..

i was also hoping that since creative labs aquierd EMU and Ensonic that they would finaly make a card that is worth while... i gused wrong.... even the APS has not been revamped and improved... it a shame.. creative should have left EMU and ensonic alone... they would have been better off if they where aquired ny either creamware or stienberg.... ah well....

You might want to have a look at the Terratec EWS 88 cards, or, if all you need is clear, high quality (24/96) two channel audio for cheap the DMX 6Fire 24/96. Hoontech is another maker of cheap studio cards.
