As far as rappers go, he's one of the better ones, but since I hate rap, that puts him at the top of a very smelly heap

I do think he's very smart the way he plays with the media and the religious right. If anyone complains about anything he does, he just does it ten times more the next time. It gets him on the news, and therefore gets that much more exposure. The more they complain, the bigger he gets.

I've also never seen anyone quoted out of context so often. It's pretty funny to watch sometimes. If you get a chance to watch any of his interviews, I recommend it. He's quite well spoken.

As for 8-mile, I haven't seen it. I probably wouldn't rent it myself, but I would watch it if it was on TV or something.

Missed 8 mile, too. His music seems ok to me (in radio...).

removing the 'c' from the word leaving 'rap' doesn't make it any better.

Not a fan of rap music - I've never really heard his stuff.

I just meant that since it is generally frowned upon that that is why it is popular.

Yeah, and he knows it too, and what he has to say about it is quite fun (listen to "Without Me")

I keep hearing that when Dr. Dre first heard Eminem, he thought that he was black.

                          ...

                          ...

Now, I've listened to Eminem. And... the only way to get more "white" in your sound... is to have a nice pencil-thin moustache, crank your voice up real high, and sing "We Will Rock You" like Freddy.

He's the whitest of white boys, and his rap... well, let's just say that not only is it DERIVATIVE, but the Beastie Boys have been there, done that, and faded away.

The only way he stays in the limelight is by creating controversy. Period. Kid Rock started off in the trailers, and while he certainly tours with a large entourage and dates hos (err... I mean Baywatch Actresses with Hepatitis) he doesn't make preposterous movies about his life.

                          *shrug*

Then again, there are 5000 black rap artists on the charts at any given time. None of THEM are any good, either. *shrug*

                            Sums it up rather nicely

Eminem should just give everyones ears a rest & live off his T-bills.

Kid Rock should seque to where his voice is best suited: Country.

Oh, the finale to my thought...

If Dre thought Eminem was black... Dre needs to get OUT of the rap business. Because Eminem is as white as the mormon boys' choir (no offense Jamm).

I'm really interested in what the blacks, the original or underground rap music people, say about Marshall Mathers.

I personally think he is really talent on writing music (if he indeed wrote them, coz a lot of artists just hire people to write music and claim they did). He adds a lot of elements to the rap music that have never been done before.

His latest songs are quite "pop-rap" style though.

And yes... his image (or personality) is disgusting.
