The real good cameras aren't that expensive anymore - Sigma SD9 (Sigma SA mount - despite being not widely used, sigma has many good, well-priced lenses available for it) 1599,40 EUR, Canon EOS-10D (successor to the famous D60) 1859,- EUR.. (both without lenses)
Or, if you want to spend a little less and a F2.8 - F3.5 28-200 mm (Equiv.) lens and 5 megapixels is enough for you consider the Minolta Dimage 7i (or Hi), it costs but 769,- EUR (1039,- for the Hi).
You'd have to pay an additional 200 EUR for a microdrive, though.
If you want a low quote, tell me which model. Oh, and their Digicams are just rebadged Panasonic (which are so-so anyway) plus a huge price premium (and different, though not necessarily better, design).

Hmm, they are much more expensive here in Belgium; close to €2300-€2500. Very importantly: that is without lenses, you easily spend €500-€800 on a decent lens. Also, you have to take into account that the images taken are big, so you need plenty of storage.
Yes, that's a very good site. You just have to keep in mind that he is picky on everything, so you have to decide if the things he doesn't like are important to you, or even if you agree with him.
besides that, I surely know that those digi cams came down in price by quite a margin, but I still can feed my whole family for a month or more just for the prize of a good camera ... see my point ?
Despite my nickname causing confusion, I am not female ...
