Thx KvH, I got that wrong then. Guess Holly is a wench then (j/k)
I wonder: anyone think this Jorden ever checked replies to his post?

Some of the people here ought to learn to read the first post. I am not going to be on here for much. Just once in a while I'll be on, and staying out of the way of some people.
Got too much to do elsewhere anyway.
But nice to see that people remember me.
En Umfriend, jawel, ik ben nederlands. Als je hier af en toe een nederlands scheldwoord tussendoor gooit wat the babelfishes niet kennen, dan kom je er aardig vanaf.
For everyone else: Don't believe everything you read. And do believe people can change. For once, maybe this advice should be read by Kruzin.
"Perhaps they communicate by changing colour? Like those sea creatures .."
"Lobsters?"
"Really? I didn't know they did that."
"Oh yes, red means help!"
Originally posted by Kruzin That thread showed what Jordan could be like.
By that point in time, Holly was in damage control mode after her brief stint as a moderator. She had previously made herself look like a fool, and was trying hard to change her reputation and take back over the forums she lost.
If you're interested in knowing what Holly's darker side looked like, read this thread and you'll see what I mean:
Needless to say, after this (and other incidents like this) she was not a mod for very long...
Obviously spelling Jorden wrong still amuses some people here (it's a running joke for the scummy minis ).
Obviously, and everyone will think of my issues with Greebe here, people will have gripes about other users of the forums (be they minis, Super MURCers or Moderators). Personally, I think we should be allowed to air them, until the point that it becomes a 1-on-1 argument (or flame teams as appropriate). What I do not like is abuse of privileges. Holly/motub deleted Kruzin's link. Did she do that because she really did think it's a bad idea? Yes, perhaps it should be kept away from the advertisters, but WebWasher links and threads must be so widespread that they wouldn't care anyway. So, Holly deleted it just in case. Would she have deleted it had Jord posted it? We don't know. Did it being Kruzin influence her decision to cut it? We don't know. I think it did to some effect, which strikes as a bad point for a moderator. I do not see any "dark side" though, just very opinionated debate.
Originally posted by Kruzin A blast from the past, for those who wonder why jord and moooootub where driven off these forums
For anyone who does not get this, mooooo is the name a cow makes. Childish name calling it is, but as far as I know, Kruzin has never abused his status.
My thoughts on Greebe? Yes, I will share a few. Greebe had annoyed me in the past, but there was no malice until I got the kick bans on IRC. I deemed this to be abuse of privileges, so basically called this issue, and I am glad he no longer has those privileges. Whether we will be friendly again I do not know – it takes a lot for me to grow a disliking to someone, and the first few months of this year were enough.
Who else has annoyed me? Sticking to the names mentioned here, we have Jord and Guru. Jord is very picky about getting his name spelt right, so people annoy him by spelling it wrong. Lots of things annoy Jord, including Guru. Guru feels the need to add lots of !!!!!s and ????s to sentences. See some of the news items on Distributed@Murc – although I did take some out to try and lessen this little annoyance Jord, I think, annoyed them enough that personal attacks ensued. Whether Greebe and Kruzin started it, or Jord and Holly, is irrelevant. Childish and abusive personal attacks on other members is not nice, and just adds to animosities. When I attacked Greebe personally, it was direct issues with his moderatorship (of IRC), and hopefully not childish for the most part. I think I made some random posts – quoting a HiFi as spam, and the DVI FAQ I made was childish – but hopefully nothing too personal. I did think Greebe deleted a thread which had the DVI beginnings in it, although it was actually the thread owner. I had no proof, so did not really publicise this item.
As for Greebe deleting Gurm’s posts, I will make no comment – I am linked to Gurm’s “side” enough as it is, without adding any more to this.
As you will see, I have commented on various issues, offering my viewpoint. Where I am directly involved I can confirm they are facts to the best of my knowledge, and I will stand by them – my opinions on other issues are just that, opinions. Greebe is welcome to reply to offer his viewpoint on our issues, although we have discussed it plenty on the forums before, and briefly on ICQ/IRC out of the main forum. Why do I talk so much publicly? Well, I do not really want to be seen in a bad light. I have been flamed over my Greebe complaints from a couple of people – so I wanted to show people that I was not fighting Gurm’s war, but instead dealing with the abuse directed at me.
Also, while we are all linking historical threads, a request from Jorden in “The Guru thread... can you please...” and a followup, “Little message to Guru”, and a reply, Little message to the "Dutch Flower Boy". So, would Guru really ever defend Jord? Guru sticks up for Jord. Ok, so it’s a disappointing thread with a response to a sick childish post from a pseudo-nick, but it shows Jord and Guru are friendly now (there was a direct post where Guru called Jord his friend, but I cannot find it and as of now I have ceased searching
So, that paragraph has a load of reading, but just to show that you can personally attack people, without getting abusive (i.e. you can tell someone that they are posting random silly nonsense lies, but stooping to name calling and making fun is childish and, in my humble opinion, should not be on these forums).
Finally, a note on a Moderator – the former forum known as ‘The Soap Box’ was run by ‘Father’ Joel for some time. I cannot remember the issue (could check PMs possibly), but Joel was very interested in running the forum well – he PMed me regarding whatever issue it was, and wanted feedback on whether the content in question was appreciated on the forums. It is nice when people can appreciate that their own opinions are not right, but are only opinions. By asking for other opinions, Joel ran a forum that possibly did not always agree with his own , and it was much appreciated by me anyway Ok, I am babbling, but thought I would share some happy thoughts.
Should anyone want to PM me then feel free, I can see this thread could get somewhat volatile. Perhaps I have posted inflammatory stuff - I really hope not though. Should you wish to flame directly, please keep it to PMs, and serious posts to the thread.
Regards to all, whether we are getting on or not.
Paul.
Edit: If I have made mistakes, please forgive me, I did not proof read this, and a lot of it is random rambling Asking someone to take a quick look, but otherwise this post will stay until tomorrow. Please do not flame too much over the next few hours
Edit 2: While I remember, can we stop with the pseudo-nicks? I am sure that Jord has made a return and those users will be tempted to add their 'anonymous' comments from their alternative accounts, but let's see if we can keep MURC adult, and abuse free. I think that was the point of my post anyway
PS: Fair clocking up the smilies now, from a very serious post

I took it with me...
Last I checked it was 4 pages big already (45+ posts), and I just blatantly ripped it with an apology to Zokespro.
Regarding Pace's post: I don't approve of much of what he said. What is worse than bringing up mud from an old ditch and flinging it around? If people want to continue doing so, they can go ahead. I don't care, as some people never change.
But that people use this thread as their way of flinging mud to others goes too far. If you want to do that, start your own thread, or do it 1 on 1 in the first place.
I know there are still people on here that have problems with me. So ****ing what? If you haven't changed your ways in those 2 years, you never will. If you are still ill feeling that I called you a twat 2.5 years ago, then you are still a twat. And if you still didn't like it that Holly came over from NYC to Holland, then you are a sorry person: Get over it and let it go. She's not coming back. (in her own words).
Now, with that all out of the way, what does everyone think of the Ati Radeon 9500, 9700 and 9800 Pro's ?
I got a beautifull blue Hercules 3D Prophet 9500 Pro lying here that only tears on bootup in Win2k Safe Mode. We can't get it to start in Windows proper.
So card's bust. Luckily I didn't pay the 200+ pounds for it, but got it as a gift from my forum/magazine bosses. So now I am trying to get Hercules to change it for a working version.
Just too bad that Ati drivers aren't as good as Matrox drivers. Then again, the magazine had to send back their preview version of the Parhelia.
Ergh, I have mixed feelings about posting on this thread, but I'm going to anyway. First off, it's good to see you again Jord, glad you and Holly are doing well, it's nice to see some of the old faces around even if only on occasion.
Second, I can't resist commenting on the crap thats been going on here lately. I have seen people on all sides make phenomenaly stupid comments that they should know better than to make. I have seen people on all sides degenerate into being complete jerks at times. I have seen people on all sides do and say things that make my mind boggle. You all know you've done it, you all should know better. There are very few members of this forum who have ever managed to truly piss me off, although the good majority have brought me to grinding my teeth at times. However, I have always tried to refrain from flaming anyone regardless of whether or not I personally like or dislike them. I like to think that fact and the fact that I tend to be more of an observer on these forums makes me something of an impartial observer. I think a great many people here get offended way to easily. I also think a great many people here also purposely make comments that push the flame/not a flame line as far as it can possibly be pushed whenever they can get away with it. Truth be told, that statement is guilty of the latter to a degree. However, it is also true. I think everyone here needs to spend a bit more time thinking before they post.
The open animosity on these forums disgusts me at times. I'd relate this to the Everquest forums for the server that I play on. Some of the threads there get way out of hand. At least there is something (however far fetched it may be) of an excuse to be found there based in rivalry's and so on involved with the game. There is no such excuse here. I am not going to make any specific accusations towards anyone either for or against them because, as I said above, everyone has been guilty of being pricks at times. Everyone needs to just stop posting borderline flame comments (not to mention the outright flames), and everyone needs to lighten up just a touch and not get offended over some of the truly trivial offenses that have been made at times.
Lastly, on emoticons. Emoticons are the bane of forums everywhere. If you think an emoticon can turn your post from 'flame' to 'non-flame', you are wrong. You are the one group of people who I will specifically call out. You know who you are, you are wrong. Emoticons do not justify or absolve a post of flame or flame bait content. A flame is a flame is a flame, emoticon or not. If you think you need emoticons to get your point across then you need to go back to school and take some basic grammar and spelling classes and relearn how to correctly use your native language and any foreign languages that you purport to be fluent in. If you can't get your point across without emoticons, then adding emoticons certainly isn't going to make it any better. In sum, the 'but I had emoticons, see, look at them, they're right there in plain sight' excuse is nothing but bullsh1t and you stinking well know it.
Sorry for the hijack Jord but I really felt the need to post and since the other thread got locked and since it was bleeding over into your thread anyway I figured I might as well post here. Anyway, it is good to see you again (speaking for myself at least).

Now, with that all out of the way, what does everyone think of the Ati Radeon 9500, 9700 and 9800 Pro's ? [/B]
Well, let's see, a Hercules 9500 Pro is ~250$ here, a 9700 is 350$ and a 9700 Pro 450$. The 9800 hasn't made it yet.
Now, if I'd be willing to pay the extra 100$ for the 256bits memory the 9700 has over the 9500Pro, I can't say that I would do that for the 9700Pro over 9700, just for higher memory rating and clocks.
Same thing would go for the 9800 vs 9700/9700Pro, just better memory, higher clocks and some software optimizations promised for the later two in Catalyst 3.4.
Ah, a 9800 Pro with 256 ram (Saphire Ultimate Edition ?), maybe, though it would probably cost a fortune.
I might shop for a new video card this summer and the two contendents are the 9500 Pro and 9700 vanilla (probably Hercules), depending on budget. Actually, I'm dreaming of a bulk/OEM BBA 9700, with 2.8ns memory
9500: not so good. Not really slow, but much too expensive for its performance
9500Pro: only slightly higher price than the non-Pro, but MUCH better performance, this card is the sweet spot (considering price/performance) in the gfx-card market nowadays.
9700: With the recent price drops here, another very good choice. NEarly the same performance as the Pro at an considerably lower price. Only necessary over the 9500Pro if you need high resolutions (1600x1200), though.
9700Pro: Too expensive when compared with the 9700 non-Pro and the 9500Pro, both of which deliver the same performance with mainstream CPUs
9800Pro: simply MUCH too expensive for the slightly higher Performance over the 9700Pro. A gfx-card, that's just not needed, currently...
9600Pro: depends on the street prices. Unfortunately slower than the 9500Pro, but an excellent overclocker, so when the street price is low enough, this could be a nice card as well.
