  • Bye-bye Greenbacks?

The U.S. Treasury is going to start adding color to the $20 USD bill this fall. Color variation in other bills wil shortly follow, except the $1 and $2 bills which will remain the same.

I would think this is preparation to drop the greenback all together. I feel all European now with multicolored money.

Ah its just way to make counterfitting harder. Doesn't Australia or someone have plastic money?
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

If that. From what I hear it's just a dye change for now.

Had they stopped making the 2 for a while and then started again? Has there always been 2s?

Australia's is plastic-like too, and has a transparent window.

                    Edit: Just noticed Sethos' post...

We had a pro counterfeiter here who DREW money - and Deutsche Mark bills were some of the safest! That guy did it more for fun than for profit though, but he was quite successful, because the bills were almost indistinguishable from the real ones.

Easy solution to the counterfeiting problem... load the paper with radioactive dyes, different isotopes for different values of currency!.
