I think it is almost 6 weeks for me, not sure. But then, my contract is for four days a week only, so it almost perfectly suits my lazy-bum-needs

An now I am off for 3 months as well, ain't life gr8?

I'm getting 2 weeks, but that's because I'm on a Summer Internship, so I'm lucky to get any at all.

Hmm that depends on the company to tell you the truth. Some companies give you off for MLK day, but not President's day (i.e. Washingtons and Lincolns B-days are about 2 weeks apart so they made it one day on either a monday or Friday for a long weekend).

I have 8 "offical" Holidays with two floating holiday days, which I take on the Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. In practics I have more time off then that since I get all the US Goverment Holiday's and if the Army isnt working that day neither am I "unofficially". I get 3 weeks of vaction time after only working 1 year at my current job.
Why is it called tourist season, if we can't shoot at them?

another reason to hate my job besides the travel

I have no and never will get any paid-time-off or sick days with my current job. I am refered to as an "as-needed employee" which basically means no work = no pay. Heck, they offer insurance but then don't kick in for half like many companies.

Contract work in the pharmaceutical industry -- gotta love it.
Buckaroo, the President's on line 1, calling about is everything okay with the alien space bomb and Planet Ten, or should we just go ahead and destroy Russia?

Tell him yes on one and no on two.

Which was yes? The destroy Russia, or the, uh, number two?

I get 5 weeks plus the big national holidays like 4th of july, memorial day, labor day etc and a couple extra 'floating days' that are fixed by the company depending on when the other days are (for example this year we get a few days off around Christmas off in addition to the 25th).

I've only been at my current job for less than 4 years, so I get 120 hours, and if I don't use em all up they get banked. I can also swell the bank by working OT, but I don't get many OT opporunities.

I am jealous. None. After 1 year I will have maybe 1 week.

Over here, your vacation time depends on how many hours you have worked. If you work your 80 hours per pay period, your vacation after one year comes up to about 3-4 weeks. Plus you get 8 sick days, 2 floating holidays and 10 family emergency days.

This is my first job that I do actually get vacation time. 2 weeks/year. There are too many loop-holes in the system that allow companies to get away with not giving time off.
