            I like the Japanese anime version of Metropolis.

            There's a late 90's movie based off Metropolis called 'Dark City' that is pretty good. I believe Jennifer Connelly and Kieffer Sutherland are in it amongst others.

              Dark City was great...I especially liked the freaky looking 'aliens'. Such a pity I don't have TCM here...I'll have to see where I can find the original on DVD.

                Giorgio Moroder petition here.

                Definitely a must-have.

                  Before The Matrix there was Dark City;

                  Director: Alex Proyas ("The Crow")

                  Rufus Sewell: John Murdoch
                  William Hurt: Inspector Frank Bumstead
                  Kiefer Sutherland: Dr. Daniel Schreber
                  Jennifer Connelly: Emma Murdoch/Anna (SO easy on the eyes!!)
                  Richard O'Brien: Mr. Hand (yeah, that Richard O'Brien )
                  Ian Richardson: Mr. Book
                  Bruce Spence: Mr. Wall
                  Colin Friels: Inspector Walenski

                  Love it, but it's not based on Metropolis...though the mood is similar.
