I agree with all of the above.

The AARP would have my head, but once you hit a certain age yearly testing should be compulsory. And I mean a full driving test. Would this strain our already overstressed RMV systems? Yeah, cope. They need beefing up anyway.

I didn't think so when I was a teenager, but we need MUCH tougher licensing laws for teens as well. I think you'll discover that a disproportionate amount of accidents involve people who are impaired either by lack of experience, physical/mental inability (due to age or other impairment), or "other" reasons.

Speed limits aren't the problem. 99+% of accidents that don't involve age, impairment, or hazardous conditions happen at above 90mph or below 30mph. The issue is that nobody knows how to drive. I've seen people drive around a block slowly and be given a license. GOOD GOD, that's a shock and a travesty. I've seen girls FAIL their driving test but pass because they wore a short skirt. C'mon.

Money wise the Government would love it loads of extra income. But it would be a vote loser. I think it should come in if you get points on your license.

I would say in most cases in general road situtations people do know how to drive. They just lack common sense and have the belief that nothing will ever happen to them. Everyone knows it's dangerous to overtake before a corner or before a brow of hill but they still do it.

Most people these days in this country don't know how to drive in snow becuase it hardly ever happens. When it did a lot of instructors wouldn't take the learner out. I insisted on it. Skid control should also be part of the test and learning.
